Evidence Based Practice for Speech and Language Therapists

The Northern Research SIG is pleased to present a second opportunity
to attend workshops and seminars aimed at providing information and
support for speech and language therapists to use and contribute to
the evidence base of our profession.

The First Steps in Evidence Based Practice: An Interactive workshop
on formulating questions, searching for evidence and evaluating the
literature with Dr Helen Stringer, Speech and Language Sciences
Section, Newcastle University

Programme:

9.00 Registration and coffee

9.30-12.30 Asking questions about practice, levels of evidence
and searching for evidence (with coffee break)

1.30- 12.30 Lunch break (lunch is not provided, but there are
several cafés in the vicinity, information will
be provided on the day)

1.30- 4.30 Judging the Evidence: critical appraisal (with tea
break)


At the end of the day participants will be able to formulate an
evidence based practice question about their clinical work, search
for evidence using databases and search engines and critically
evaluate the evidence that is available. Some pre-reading is required
and will be provided on receipt of your application.
