Highly Specialist/Specialist SLT - Regional Cleft Lip and Palate Service

We are looking for an SLT with experience in cleft lip and palate to work in the Regional Cleft Lip and Palate Service. This is a single service based on two sites at Newcastle upon Tyne and Leeds. The postholder will be based at the Newcastle site, with some travel required across the northern part of the region.

You will provide a specialist service to children and adults with cleft lip and palate and non cleft velopharyngeal dysfunction, covering all aspects of cleft care including multidisciplinary team clinics, specialist investigations, specialist therapy interventions, second opinions and clinical audit. There will be opportunities to contribute to research projects and to the delivery of teaching packages.

The SLT cleft team is very well supported within the wider multidisciplinary cleft team at Newcastle, with good links to the service in Leeds. There are also close links with the Newcastle Paediatric SLT service, with support and supervision systems in place. There are opportunities for professional development both internally and externally and the team works within an ethos of continually monitoring and implementing best practice. Outreach work is an integral part of the post and a car driver is essential

Ideally you will have substantive general paediatric experience plus experience of working with cleft lip and palate/ velopharyngeal dysfunction within a multidisciplinary team setting. However applicants with less cleft experience would be considered and the post graded accordingly. This is an ideal opportunity to develop skills in SLT within cleft lip and palate.

For further information contact Deb Lees on 0191 2563085 or Stephanie Delvin/Marion Hall on 0191 2824845
