Enquiry received at Communicate from Sarah, SLT.
Some of Sarah’s colleagues attended a Communicate study day in 2003:
“Strategic Use in Context: AAC, Supported Conversation, and Group Therapy Interventions for People with Severe Aphasia,” presented by Kathryn L. Garrett, Ph.D., CCC-SLP Duquesne University, Pittsburgh
Kathryn described an aphasia assessment that Sarah is thinking of using. However, first she wants to hear from others who have already used it, to find out if they have any comments. It is called:
“Multimodal Communication Screening Task for Persons with Aphasia” (MCSTA)
It is one of a suite of free assessment materials for use with adults with aphasia that can be downloaded from the internet here:
http://aac.unl.edu/screen/screen.html
If anyone has used the MCSTA and has any comments, please could you let me know? I will collate them for Sarah, if there are any, and post them back to you so we can share the information. If you do reply with comments, please say whether or not you are making them anonymously or want to have your name alongside them. If you know someone else who has used these materials, please feel free to pass this on.
Ps. No need to reply to say that you do not have any comments.
Best wishes,
Liz Panton
