Job Title: Speech and Language Therapy Assistant/Associate Practitioner

Grade/Salary: Band 4, £16,405 - £19,730
Working Option: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Description: Fixed Term (12 months)
This post is available to work with the Principal Speech and Language Therapist to support and assist in the planning, delivery, monitoring and development of a highly specialist service to children and adolescents, some of whom will present with Learning Disability who receive in patient services, including young people who may have a forensic history and presentation who require low/medium secure accommodation.
This post would suit someone who would like the opportunity, under supervision, to:
i) provide assessment and treatment to patients with complex communication impairments
ii) undertake specific skilled support work
iii) accept patients referred by the therapists and carry own small caseload
iv) work as a member of the multi- disciplinary teams, sharing and contributing to team meetings and updating others of own work
v) support small research and audit projects within the Speech and Language Therapy service.
This post arises within an exciting and challenging field, in the provision of an effective clinical and administrative service for this Psychiatric division. Applications would be welcome from candidates who are aiming to seek further experience before qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist.
Appropriate on the job training will be provided and there will be day to day support from the Speech and Language Therapists.
