Please share this with your friends and colleagues. The current post
holder , Julie Bradford, is moving overseas. As a former NHS
therapist myself, the fact that you will get your own office (yes,
and your own desk with a computer on) is reason enough to consider
looking at this advert in more depth!
I look forward to answering your queries,
Helen Stringer

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION, COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE SCIENCES
CLINICAL COORDINATOR
SALARY: £32,795-£39,160 (with potential progression to £44,074)
The Speech and Language Sciences Section, Newcastle University, is
looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Speech and Language
Therapist to be responsible for the coordination of clinical
placements for both the undergraduate and postgraduate vocational
programmes and contribute to the clinical activity in the campus
clinics. The position is a key liaison between the clinical
programmes and the clinical community and fulfils a central role in
maintaining quality relationships with the service providers. You
will assist the Director of Clinical Education in quality assurance
of the clinical programmes, provide input to the academic programme
in clinical education and work as part of the exciting therapy team
providing clinical supervision to students in one of the campus
clinics (the Aphasia Centre or the Paediatric Speech and Language
Therapy Clinic). You will contribute to the student clinical
programme of tutoring and assessment as well as be involved in
supporting community clinicians in supervising our students. Direct
clinical responsibilities will include the assessment and selection
of clients to the campus clinics and the responsibility of client
management and student supervision during University semester time.
Post-qualification clinical experience is required with the addition
of some experience in clinical supervision. You will have strong
communication and organisational skills. A significant part of the
job will involve administration and organisation of the clinical

position provides an excellent opportunity for a clinician to
continue to maintain clinical skills while working in an academic
context and building organisational skills. Commitment to a higher
degree at MPhil, MSc or PhD would be encouraged where appropriate.
The post is full time; we will consider applicants who are interested
in part time work in either of the main roles.
