Job Title: Speech and Language Therapy Assistant/Associate Practitioner
Directorate: CAMHS and Specialist Services
Location: Prudhoe Hospital, Prudhoe, Northumberland
Grade/Salary: Band 4 £16,405 up to £19,730 (Pro Rata)
Working Option: 0.36 WTE (13 ½ hours)*
Description: Fixed term contract for 12 months
Salary progression is subject to individuals meeting the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) required for the post.
This post is available to work with the Principal Speech and Language Therapist to support and assist in the planning, delivery, monitoring and development of a highly specialist service to children and adolescents with Learning Disability who receive in patient services, including a group of young people who require low secure accommodation.
This post would suit someone who would like the opportunity, under supervision, to:

Provide assessment and treatment to patients with complex communication impairments

Undertake specific skilled support work.

Accept patients referred by the therapist and carry own small caseload.

Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, sharing and contributing to team meetings and updating others of own work, support small research and audit projects within the Speech and Language Therapy service.
This post arises within an exciting and challenging field, in the provision of an effective clinical and administrative service for this Psychiatric division. Applications would be welcome from candidates who are aiming to seek further experience before qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist.
Appropriate on the job training will be provided and there will be day to day support from the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.
