Subject: Consultation Event for
Children and Young People with Disabilities - Feb 12 - London
Below is a copy of an email from Richard Rieser of
Disability Equality in
Education looking for 8 - 16 year old disabled children to attend a
consultation on 12th February.
I am going as a young adult and would urge 1 Voice children to attend so
that communication aid users are well represented.

Dear Colleagues,
Have Your Say 12th February 2007 in London
In my capacity as a member of the Equality 2025 Network- I am seeking your
help to get disabled children and young people to attend a consultative on
Monday 12th February during the day time( 10.00 am-3.00 pm) at the Britannia
Centre WC1( near Kings Cross. We want to get a good spread of impairments
and ages. We are particularly keen to get 8 to 16 year olds represented.
There will be a fee for participating and travel expenses will be met for
the young people their family or personal assistant. Places are limited to
around 70 and will be allocated on a first come basis. To ensure a place
participants will need to either e-mail audrey.daft@
telephone 020 7712 2156.
Equality 2025 Network- is an advisory network OF disabled people created by
the Government in December 2006 to ensure that disabled peoplešs views and
experiences could directly influence Government policy making.
For Equality 2025 to do the best job that it can, it must be aware of and
informed by active engagement with a truly diverse range of disabled people
from all backgrounds and communities, right across the UK. On the 12th
February the event will be a mixture of talking and listening and some fun
activities. Parents, family members and those with parental responsibilities
or teaching assistants are also welcome to participate in the event and to
support their children and young people to be part of the activities.
I do home you will distribute the attached leaflet to disabled children and
young people you know and encourage them to apply to attend.
Best Wishes
Richard Rieser
Equality 2025 and Director Disability Equality in
Education
