FINE AAC Network: Practicalities of Effective Inclusion In Education

Regional Meeting, Tuesday 10th October 2006, 1.30 – 3.30
Gallowgate 1 Government Office North East, Newcastle

Helping Children Communicate – Show and Tell Resources

Sharing practical resources to include children with communication difficulties

This new network for the NE region aims to share knowledge and experience in working with children with communication difficulties.  At the initial meeting in July, many useful resources were mentioned.  The aim of this session is to give an opportunity for you to bring along practical resources that you find really useful – both items you have developed yourself and commercially produced resources.  We would also like to build up a library of useful website addresses.

This meeting is open to all professionals working in this area, e.g.

  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Speech and Language Therapy Assistants
  • Teachers and Specialist Teachers
  • Teaching Assistants and Special Support Assistants
  • Educational Psychologists

(This list includes those who may have been involved in CAP teams)

Provisional agenda:

1:30    Welcome and Introduction (Linda Bainbridge, County Advisory Teacher for Access Technology, Durham)

1:40    Show and tell

2:30    Refreshments and networking

3:10    Review and forward planning (Philippa Robinson, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist: Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Communicate)

3:30    Finish

To make the meeting work, we need people to bring something to share.  Although it is not essential to bring a resource, please try to bring something.  However small or simple it may seem to you, others will be interested!

Please register your attendance with steven.lewthwaite@... by Friday 29th September.  Please let us know when you register what you are bringing, so we can estimate how much space you will need

Any queries to linda.bainbridge@... 01740 0656998 or Philippa Robinson at communicate@... 0191 219 5640
