Dear Sir or Madam

I run the Medicines for Children Research Network which is a
national network undertaking research into medicines for children on

behalf of the DoH. We are looking to recruit a number (around 30)
nurses and allied health professionals to our research posts across
the country.
Whilst it is relatively easy to alert the nursing
community of these posts, it is proving fairly difficult to
advertise
these posts to other allied health professionals.
I would therefore be
very grateful if you would be able to circulate the attached advert
around your membership and also place the advert in your
newsletter and/or other forms of communications you may have.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries
regarding this request, or about the Medicines for Children Research

Network.

Many thanks,
Vanessa

OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESEARCH NURSES & OTHER ALLIED
HEALTH PROFESSIONALS - NATIONWIDE

Medicines for Children Research Network

The UK Medicines for Children Research Network (MCRN) was
established in 2005 as part of the UK Clinical Research Network,
which was set up by the Department of Health with the aim to improve
the speed, quality and integration of clinical research, ultimately
resulting in improved patient care. The aim of the MCRN is to enable
the provision of safe and effective medicines for children. The MCRN
will provide a network of local research centres throughout England,
which will develop and conduct clinical trials and other studies of
medicinal products for children throughout the whole range of
healthcare, and includes the active involvement of children. An
exciting
opportunity now exists for research nurses or other health
professionals of varying grades, to join the MCRN local research
networks across England. Recruitment of approximately 30 such
professionals will be taking place in the local networks based in the
following areas;

West Midlands Trent London North West
South West

These exciting posts offer the opportunity for nurses and other allied
health professionals with an interest or experience in research, and
experience of working with children, to develop their research skills
within the framework of a supportive team. A programme of training
and education will be available to all post holders to support this work

and to ensure effective professional development. Central to this role
is the recruitment, education and monitoring of children entering into
clinical trials and other studies. The maintenance of accurate and
comprehensive records is an essential aspect of these posts. A
number of senior posts which require previous research experience
are also available.

These posts offer an ideal opportunity for motivated, enthusiastic
individuals who wish to build on their existing experience in clinical
research and further develop their careers in this area. You will be
educated to degree level or suitable equivalent, ideally with a
background in paediatrics. An interest in working in a research
environment, as well as excellent communication skills are desirable.
So too is the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Posts will be advertised over the next few months and will appear on
the MCRN website ({ HYPERLINK "http://www.mcrn.org.uk" }www.mcrn.org.uk)
and UKCRN website
({ HYPERLINK "http://www.ukcrn.org.uk" }www.ukcrn.org.uk) as they become
available. If you are interested in a
post in a particular region, please contact the relevant Local Network
contacts listed below. For all other enquiries please contact Vanessa
