Do you look through folders filled with client notes, but can’t find meaningful numbers to report progress?

 

Observing and measuring AAC outcomes is complex and challenging, yet expected for making evidence-based clinical decisions.

2.    A hands-on workshop

This workshop will provide hands-on activities and interactive discussion about strategies, tools, and resources to measure client performance. Video tapes will be used to identify skills using an AAC system. Participants will discuss strategies to rank, measure and report communication competence. Case study data contributed by participants will be shared to demonstrate the tools you can count on for providing reliable and valid performance and outcome measures. 

 

3.    Analyse your own data

Participants are encouraged to bring student or client data (progress notes, data sheets, language sample transcripts, log-files, etc.) to use as examples or for discussion questions. Strategies, tools and resources presented during this workshop are not specific to any AAC manufacturer or device, but support most AAC aided voice output technology.

 

Attendees will receive a CD and variety of print materials to support clinical and educational AAC intervention. 

 

4.    Learning outcomes

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

1. Compare performance and outcome measures and identify specific measures appropriate to report progress for specific clients.
2. Identify the type of information to collect in order to report evidence needed to document client progress.
3. Identify the procedures to the use the following software tools to measure performance and report outcomes:  U-LAM, LAMterm, PeRT, SSPT, Compass.
4. Discuss how the AAC Performance Report can be used to support assessment, device trials, and therapy monitoring. 

 

5.    How to attend
