This post offers you the opportunity to work in the clinical field of adult acquired neurology in an acute hospital setting and in a Community rehabilitation setting.
We require someone with significant experience in providing services to adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders who wishes to develop further in this field with the help of Lead speech and language therapy colleagues. The workload involves an acute stroke ward, videofluoroscopy clinics, outpatient aphasia clinics, and domiciliary sessions. You will have the opportunity to work with degenerative disorders in the community.
You will be based at the Freeman Hospital and Newcastle General Hospital (community based) and there is an NHS bus service between the sites. You will be supported by other therapists in the same specialist area as well as being a member of the wider adult team. There is a commitment to ongoing professional development and you could expect to be well provided with opportunities for training.
As this post involves contact with a vulnerable client group, it has also been designated as requiring ENHANCED Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
