Need info about UK SLT   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #295 of 469 |
I am an American SLT with 20+ years experience, interested in working in the UK.  I have been lurking on the web at various sites to gather information but still have some questions.
1. What is a "band"?  Adverts for jobs may indicate "band 2" or "band 5" etc.  We don't use this term over here so can someone explain it for me?  Is it related to job complexity?  Experience? Salary? I have also occasionally seen the term "spine point" which I don't understand.
2. Almost all of the positions I see advertised are for NHS. Are all SLT positions within the NHS? Are school based postions also in the NHS or do school boards employ SLT's indenpendently?
Thanks for your help!!
Margot
