British Aphasiology Society Therapy Symposium - Plymouth
Dear Leads, Heads and Managers of Speech and Language Therapy Departments/ Services,
In my role as Publicity Officer for the British Aphasiology Society (www.bas.org.uk ) I am keen to ensure that clinicians working in the area of aphasia are aware of the BAS Therapy Symposium in Plymouth in September this year.
Would you be so kind as to share this email flyer with members of your department or service if you think they would be interested in either presenting at the Symposium or attending it?
As a member of RCSLT, I am using their available list of SLT departments in the UK. If you would not like to be contacted again via email, about the Symposium 2006 or the Edinburgh Conference 2007, please let me know, as I do not wish to send you unwanted information.
Kind regards,
Madeline Cruice

4 & 5 September 2006
At The College of St Mark & St John,

Have you ever thought that there is never enough time at conferences to really
hear about the nuts and bolts of aphasia therapy? Have you ever complained that
the really interesting questions are never discussed? Well think again!
The BAS Therapy Symposium provides an unparalleled opportunity for aphasia therapists to describe, in detail, their therapy interventions followed by a forum for extended discussion amongst the delegates. It is also unique in the amount of support it offers speakers, who will prepare and deliver their talk with the support of a mentor. The mentor will also take part in the question and answer session. In addition, at the end of the entire symposium all mentors and presenters participate in a collaborative discussion with each other and the audience. Alternatively, there is also the opportunity to give a poster presentation detailing work in the field of aphasia therapy.
So if you have conducted a piece of work that other aphasia therapists might find of interest or you are in the middle of a programme that others need to hear about, then this is your opportunity to come forward. You will be offered a lot of support and the experience of giving a presentation at the Symposium will be one that you will never forget.
For more information about submitting a paper or
poster for presentation at the Symposium, please contact:
Emily Burtenshaw, Tel 01752 636700 ext 4361 eburtenshaw@...
Or Claire Gatehouse Tel: 01752 272470 clairegatehouse@...
Abstracts for paper or poster presentations should be submitted by 28 April 2006 to kliles@...
