Thanks to everyone who provided information for the poll.

If you did, you will have noticed that the questions seemed to be
rather jumbled up. The Yahoo Poll Feature did this I am afraid, and
it made such a mess of it that I will not be repeating the experiment.

There were 16 replies and a few people also kindly completed the
survey dowmloaded from here
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/sltnorth/sltnorth_member_survey_2004.doc

The most useful for thing for me was to find out that most
respondents used the email list - rather than the website - for
information on vacancies. It is much quicker to post notice of
vacancies on the email list than on the website, so from now on
vacancies will only be posted via the email list.

This means they will be less "fancy" - no more whacky illustrations -
but if you are missing the girl with the medusa locks from S Tees,
the kid building sandcastles in S Tyneside, the lobster in
Middlesbrough or any of the others, they are trapped in aspic on the
internet here:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/sltnorth/ads/index.html

The only other strong patterns were that:

* most respondents were clinicians or students - ie. rather than SLT
Managers, "wannabe students", etc. - and had joined the email list to
find new posts in the area

* most were already based in the NE or Cumbria

* most were subsequently appointed to a post in the NE or Cumbria as
a result of responding to an advert posted via the email list.

* "email list leavers" were mostly people who had joined as Newcastle
SLT students who had subsequently been appointed to a post outside
the NE and Cumbria.

A few people mentioned that they valued email list messages about
SIGs, meetings and educational events and also liked the "window to
the outside world" provided by the website.

Although not many replies, those received were very helpful. Several
"plaudits", no criticisms and no suggestions for improvement - but if
you have any, they are welcome at any time :)

Best wishes,
