Anyone involved, or interested, in the field of Assistive
Technologies such as

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
In the U.S. Assistive Technology (A.T.) is now considered a
profession in its own right. Graduate degrees are awarded in this
field and providers and suppliers become accredited to practice AT
services.

Due to advances in technologies and the growth in device features,
consumers and providers today have a great number of products from
which to choose. This often makes selecting the most appropriate A.T.
for any given consumer a complex and potentially confusing task.

To make this selection more effective, to help reduce the overall
A.T. non-use rate of 33% and to increase the probability of the
outcome of a successful match of person and technology, an assessment
process has been developed: "Matching Person & Technology."

This process, detailing an initial assessment and outcomes measure,
will be used to provide an opportunity for hands-on practice and
discussion.

OBJECTIVES
* Identify an array of resources to facilitate matching person and
technology.

* Describe the benefits of using the MPT process and forms to help
achieve better matches of consumer and AT.

* Synthesize key information about a consumer to select the most
appropriate AT or other support for that person?s use.

* Identify ways to ensure the effectiveness of the selected
supports.
