POST 1: SPECIAL NEEDS TEAM (CLINICAL LEAD)
Full-time, Permanent
Grade 3 spine points 37-39

This post, recently vacated, is pivotal to the Special Needs Team, supporting the Head of Service and the Special Needs Team in the continuous development of their service.

There is involvement in client care, an advisory role to therapists, assistants and other professionals and provision of leadership in Clinical Governance to the Team Specialist knowledge in a range of client interventions (such as Makaton, Hanen and AAC) is essential as is post-graduate dysphagia training and experience of training others

POST 2: SPECIALIST/DEVELOPING SPECIALIST IN ADULT LEARNING DISABILITIES
Up to spine point 32 (depending on experience)

Due to new funding we are delighted to be able to expand our current ALD service by one WTE Therapist and a Technical Instructor. Both posts will join a specialist in ALD as part of a well-established mult-disciplinary team which includes Ots, PTs, clinical psychologists and community nurses.

The posts will be part of the Department's Special Needs Team. The post-holder will be required to deliver a clinical service to all clients within the ALD population including those with dysphagia and complex needs. In line with current evidence re service delivery to this population there will be a requirement to deliver training to parents, carers and other professionals.

Relevant training will be offered to support the needs of the post-holder. Dysphagia training is essential but can be offered in post if necessary.

POST 3: ADULT/PAEDIATRIC TEAMS
Full-time, Permanent
Grade 2 spine points 25-27

This post provides 5 sessions within the Adult Team to the Community Stroke Team and 5 sessions to the Paediatric Team. The former involves work in a multi disciplinary setting both within a general hospital and in the community whilst the latter provides input to community clinics.

A broad base of clinical experience would be required for this post, particularly with regard to CVA patients and community clinic work. Knowledge of dysphagia and working within a multi-disciplinary setting would be an advantage.

POSTS 4 AND 5: SPECIAL NEEDS/PAEDIATRIC TEAMS
Full-time, (Temporary one year)
Grade 1-2 depending on experience

These posts, ideal for those seeking experience after newly-qualifying, provide five sessions to the Special Needs Team and five to the Paediatric Team.

Work for the former will be predominantly in special school settings with some pre-school special needs children input. Paediatric Team work will be in a community clinic setting with children of all ages and a variety of communication difficulties.

Successful applicants would join a Department of 22 therapists, 8 assistants, 4 clerical staff and a dysphagia nurse specialist. Full professional support is offered which includes an appraisal system, regular team meetings, staff meetings and close liaison with and support from experienced therapists and assistant. Professional development and involvement in Clinical Governance issues are actively encouraged.
