The Speech Language Therapy service in Middlesbrough is growing and expanding, and we are now able to offer these exciting opportunities for newly qualified SLTs who wish to develop specialist skills in paediatrics across both the mainstream and special needs departments.
The posts will be based with the mainstream children's service and will be supported by the special needs team.
The postholders will work with children referred into the mainstream paediatrics department and with children who have identified special needs, some of whom have been included in mainstream school settings.
There will be a considerable amount of training given, and the SLTs will have mentorship and supervision from senior specialist SLTs in both departments.
The SLT service in Middlesbrough has around 50 staff at all grades, and benefits from excellent administrative and assistant support. The service provides clinical input to children with a range of communication difficulties, and has specialists in autism, paediatric dysphagia, fluency, hearing impairment, cleft palate, physical disabilities, specific speech impairment and specific language impairment.
In addition to this the service covers children and adults with learning disabilities, including provision to clients in a forensic service.
