We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic speech and language therapists to join our innovative team! There are opportunities for newly qualified therapists, and those wishing to broaden their experience or specialise.

The Speech and Language Therapy Service operates on a district wide basis encompassing acute and primary care trusts. The local area is of particular outstanding natural beauty and offers a quality environment in both social and work terms. Set on the fringe of the Lake District National Park, there is easy access to Southern Scotland, the M6 and mainline rail stations at Carlisle.

These posts can be tailored to suit therapists interested in developing their skills in the field of paediatrics.

Ideal for new graduates who want to develop a good grounding in the management of both preschool and school aged children with speech and language disorders. The posts are clinic based with support from other therapists. Opportunity for those wishing to specialise in the field of special needs is available for experienced therapists.

Specialist Speech Language Therapist - Acute Hospital

This post provides the challenge of working within an acute hospital setting. The Therapist works along side the Lead Clinician for Acute Services and will be part of the supportive adult team for Carlisle.

There is an opportunity to gain experience in Head and Neck Cancer and to develop an interest in a specific area of the acute adult service.

Applicants should have at least 2 years experience of working with adults. Postgraduate training and experience in dysphagia are essential. Previous experience of tracheostomy would be beneficial.

There are regular staff meetings and a commitment to continuing clinical and professional development.
