SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY ADULT SERVICE 
North Tyneside General Hospital, North Shields

POST 1 
Specialist Speech & Language Therapist
 
Band 2 - Spine Points 31 - 33 
£27,141 - £29,355 per annum: pro-rata for job share/part time 
Full/Part-time (job share considered, 10 sessions per week) 
Temporary contract for 8 months initially

Following successful bids for research and development funding we are able to offer a temporary contract to run for 8 months available from April 2004.  
 
The post will encompass a range of adult acquired disorders and may include community team working with younger adults, stroke, Intermediate Care or Parkinson’s Disease according to service needs and your preferences.  

POSTS 2 & 3 
Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (2 Posts)
 
Band 2 / Band 3 (depending upon experience) 
Band 2: Spine Point 31-33, 
£27,141 - £29,355 (per annum).  
Band 3: Spine Point 36-38, 
£33,021 - £35,715 (per annum).  
Salary for both bands are pro-rata for part-time.  
Full/Part-time (job share considered, 4-10 sessions per week) 
Permanent contract

Owing to changes in our therapist's personal circumstances we are able to offer permanent specialist sessions in adult acquired neurological disorders.  
 
The posts will encompass a range of adult acquired disorders and may include community team working with younger adults, stroke, Intermediate Care or Parkinson's disease according to service needs and your preferences.  

ALL POSTS

  • You will have at least 3 years experience in this field and have accredited dysphagia training.  
  • Experience of both in-patient and community rehabilitation would be an advantage.  
  • We are looking for therapists who are dynamic and enthusiastic about their work and with an innovative evidence based approach to service delivery.  
  • You will join a well-resourced and effective team based at both North Tyneside General Hospital and Wallsend Health Centre.  
  • We offer a supportive working environment with opportunities for specialist development. 
  • We have close links with Newcastle University and the post may include sessions into the Aphasia Clinic.  
  • In North Tyneside there is a range of specialist multidisciplinary teams where we work as integral members of the team.  
  • The 11 strong adult service is part of the wider Speech and Language Therapy Department of North Tyneside.

 
As these posts involves contact with a vulnerable client group, they have also been designated as requiring ENHANCED Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.  
 
These posts are subject to the terms and conditions of the Scientific and Professional Whitley Council and the General Whitley Council.
