The
Speech & Language Therapy service in Middlesbrough is growing and
expanding, and we are now able to offer this exciting opportunity for a SLT who
has, or wishes to develop, specialist skills in the area of paediatric learning
disabilities.
The post
will be based with the mainstream children's service and will be supported by
the special needs team. It will involve liaison and outreach work with children
with special needs who have been included in mainstream schools in
Middlesbrough. The SLT will have mentorship and supervision from two senior
specialist SLTs, with additional support from a SLT Assistant.
The SLT
service in Middlesbrough has around 50 staff at all grades, and benefits from
excellent administrative support. The service provides clinical input to
children with a range of communication difficulties, and has specialists in
autism, paediatric dysphagia, fluency, hearing impairment, cleft palate,
physical disabilities, specific speech impairment and specific language
impairment. In addition to this the service covers children and adults with
learning disabilities, including provision to clients in a forensic service.
