Additional investment has helped us create a new and exciting post working as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a service to in-patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Work will primarily be on the Stroke rehabilitation Ward, which is due to be opened in December 2003, but you would provide an outreach service to any adult with an acquired communication or swallowing disorder in the hospital.
You will be expected to have a good working knowledge of the assessment and management of dysphasia and dysphagia and have a keen interest in developing new ways of working with this client group to develop services.

Special Needs/Paediatric Teams

This post provides seven sessions to the special needs team and three sessions to the paediatric team. Work for the former will be with pre-school special needs children in locations such as their homes and nurseries whilst at school-age this will be in the school environment.
Paediatric work will be in a community clinic setting with children of all ages and a variety of communication difficulties. You will be expected to have experience in both fields and in working with a wide range of other professionals.

Special Needs Team

(fixed term of one year)

You will provide a service to pre-school and school-age special needs children, working with the former in locations such as their homes and nurseries whilst at school-age this will be in the school environment.
This post gives the opportunity to build on previous experience and gain increased knowledge of a wide variety of communication disorders in the special needs field
