1)
The NHSnet User Group (NNUG).
NNUG Principal Responsibilities/Objectives
The NNUG will be responsible for ensuring stakeholder input in the NHSmail service and other related areas. To achieve this NNUG will be predominantly accountable for cascading issues and information about the NHSmail and directory service to NHS organisations through a process of consultation and validation.
Its primary focus will be to act as a focal point for user consultation and help develop and share good practice. The NNUG will help review, sanction and prioritise change requests.
The User Group will provide for all
its members a forum that facilitates the sharing of best practise when
installing, configuring, maintaining and using the NHSmail Service.
If you have not already registered for the NHSmail and Directory service you
can find out about it here
http://www.nhsia.nhs.uk/def/pages/inform/informish12/default.asp#1
and here http://www.nhsia.nhs.uk/nhsnet/pages/default.asp
If you have any ideas or issues to raise about the NHSmail or Directory services, your first port of call is to email feedback@...
All feedback emails and the NHSIA responses will be reported to the NNUG. If you feel that your ideas or comments have not been dealt with promptly or properly, please let me know and I will take this up on your behalf.
Please
do not send your ideas, comments
and questions to me in the first instance, or they will not be logged properly
by the NHSIA and you will wait longer for a response.
Message from NHSIA:
Help us to make improvements, and find out more about the NHS eMail and
Directory Services.
We know that the service may not be
right on day one, nor will it ever be ideal for everyone. But to help us make
the service as good as it can be, please send us your suggestions for
improvement to feedback@.... The
service you see today is the result of more than a hundred feedback suggestions
from early adopter sites.
The Burning Issue – “User Authentication”
Or lack of it. I have become aware very quickly that this is a major problem. The lack of a robust, cost-effective system of user authentication compromises secure transmission of information and the very viability of NHSmail as a secure, national NHS intranet. There are practical consequences in terms of efficient use of clinical time. I also believe that it raises questions about the effective use of a serious amount of NHS money if this issue is not addressed promptly.
If you too have
concerns about this, or proposals about how the issue might be addressed,
please email
feedback@....
I have developed some proposals myself and will be putting them to the NHSIA – but many heads are better than one J

Dear Colleagues,
Please find attached a word document detailing the forthcoming User Acceptance Testing for Build 4 of the NHSmail and Directory Service.
As you can see we are looking for volunteers to
assist with this process.
I would be grateful if you
would consider whether you are able to attend or whether there are other users
from your organisation who fit the profile and are willing to give up their
time.
Please can you reply to me at Anne.Barton@... as soon as possible to confirm whether or not your organisation can help with the testing.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
