North Tyneside is situated on the coast in north east England, a few miles outside the city of Newcastle. The area is within easy reach of the natural beauty of rural Northumberland and has excellent transport links to the city centre and the rest of the region.

The North Tyneside Primary Care Trust (PCT) employs around 600 staff and is responsible for planning, delivering and purchasing the most appropriate healthcare treatment for local residents. Some services are provided direct by our own staff and some are purchased from other NHS trusts, such as hospitals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join North Tyneside's dynamic, friendly team of paediatric therapists who work in the full range of clinical settings across the borough.
We have a number of sessions vacant in the following areas:
- Early Years assessment nursery
- Primary autism base
- Physical and medical difficulties
- Moderate learning difficulties primary and secondary
- Statement support in mainstream schools
Individual posts can be created flexibly depending on personal interest. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 1 years' experience, some of which is from within the field of special needs. We would be interested to hear from therapists with specialist skills or those looking to develop specialist skills in a trainee specialist role.

With clinical leadership in Community Paediatrics, Special Needs, Adult Learning Difficulties, Early Intervention and Adult Services our five integrated clinical teams enjoy established working partnerships with acute services, Social Services, the LEA and private sector.
Close links are maintained with Newcastle University and therapists have full access to library and R&D facilities within North Tyneside PCT and Northumbria Healthcare. Staff are invited to participate in lecturing on the pioneering BTEC course for Assistant Speech and Language Therapists, in conjunction with colleagues in Northumberland and Tynemouth College.
You are required to be a member of RCSLT and registration with the HPC is essential along with a current driving licence.
As this post involves contact with a vulnerable client group, it has also been designated as requiring ENHANCED Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
