Response to problems with website HIV Campground Project
I noticed there was several "Warnings about my site" posted on some
Yahoo groups and am responding to them! I just got off the phone
with GoDaddy.com (sponsors million dollar ads on SuperBowl) and they
assured me the "phishing" or "spamming" going on has nothing to do
with our site hosted by GoDaddy.com! In fact they said I don't have
to have a secure site SSL unless I am transaction credit card or
personal information! I also notice a "broken" link in some of the
post i.e. www.hiv-campground-project.com that when clicked on will
lead you to another site! I did not intentionally break the website
link! I am a real guy from Indiana that works 40 hours a week and is
HIV poz and was told June 2006. I am on the med Atripla and do host
campouts for hiv poz and friendly. I have helped people that are hiv
poz and some from committing suicide. I host a MySpace, Facebook,
Yahoo, BeOneCity, and am active in my local AIDS task force
community. I have over 22,000 friends on MySpace and over 51,000
hits worldwide. I think those that spread false rumors need to not
jump to conclusions and "calling out" people trying to do good -
"bad" In fact I am working on making this a non-profit
organization - 501c3 We in the poz community do need to stick
together and be supportive of others instead of tearing each other
apart! If anyone wants to talk with me on the phone or find out if I
am really "real" email me instead of trying to tear the work to do
apart! Have a good week!

We're very close to get the restrictions on HIV+ travelers to the United States dropped, but pressure must be put on Secretary of Health and Human Services to not list HIV as a disease barring entry to the US. Please read the message below for information on what you can do to help get this ban lifted!
-------- Original Message -------- Subject: So close From: "Joe Solmonese, Human Rights Campaign" <hrc@...> Date: Thu, July 31, 2008 11:16 am
Congress and the President have finally acted to repeal a law that punishes individuals for being HIV-positive.
Yesterday, President Bush signed a law that finally repeals the decades-old ban preventing nearly every foreign national with HIV from entering the United States!
While this is a tremendous victory, there is still one more barrier for HIV-positive visitors and immigrants that must be removed. U.S. immigration laws require the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to maintain a list of diseases that render people unable to enter the United States. HIV remains on that list.
With the help of activists like you and the leadership of Senators Kerry (D-MA) and Smith (R-OR) language to repeal this discriminatory law was successfully added to legislation reauthorizing efforts to fight HIV across the globe, commonly known as the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
With the President's signature, this discriminatory law has been repealed and the authority to determine whether HIV should remain a reason to exclude people from the country has been given back to the medical and public health experts at HHS.
Now, all that remains is removing HIV from the Health and Human Services list of conditions barring people from entering the country.
Back in 1991, President Bush's HHS Secretary, Dr. Louis Sullivan, supported removing HIV from this list and told the New York Times, "AIDS evokes an emotional response from many – and that's understandable – but we have been virtually the only major country to try to bar HIV-infected travelers. This policy will bring us in line with the best medical thinking, here and abroad."
Until the Secretary takes HIV off that list, the status of HIV-positive visitors and immigrants will not change – the vast majority will still be excluded from our country, without any public health justification. We're so close to changing that, but we need your help!
With your help, I know we can take this final step and eliminate a discriminatory policy that has harmed HIV-positive people, and our country, for far too long. Click here to learn more about this important issue, and thank you for taking action today.

Please help overturn the still existing ban on HIV+ travelers to the US. I have always supported keeping our SIN groups free from overt political messages but I feel this issue is fundamentally different. This is far more of a human rights issue than anything that is partisan politically. The ban on HIV+ visitors coming into the US directly effects hundreds of SIN members who live outside of the US. This is our chance to help get this outdated restriction banished to the dustbin of history once and for all. I'm totally committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure that HIV is never used again as a screen against people visiting our nation.
Thanks to Charles from Being Alive Los Angeles (www.beingalivela.org) for this update!

Subject: Punished for being HIV-Positive?
Dear Friend,
Can you imagine not being allowed to travel to another country or apply to become a legal resident because of a medical condition?
Under current U.S. law, our government is telling countless individuals living with HIV that they are banned from the United States. The discriminatory HIV Travel Ban prevents HIV positive individuals from entering the country or obtaining legal U.S. citizenship.
Right now a repeal to the ban is in the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) legislation - which, if passed, would abolish the ban and finally put an end to this unjust policy. But just as Congress is preparing to vote on PEPFAR legislation, anti-gay members of Congress are pushing to remove this critical provision so that the inhumane HIV Travel Ban remains a U.S. law.
Congress has a chance this year to finally abolish the travel ban and end this discriminatory policy! Please join me in asking them to stand up to anti-gay Senators who are trying to keep this unjust U.S. policy on the books. Just click below - it only takes a minute. http://www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/hivtravelban?rk=Jd1EUGSqOJjOW
The Poz Cruise for 2008 is fast approaching and a hot ticket! I'll be joining the cruise as well to give a very fun and festive talk about SIN and where we are headed in the coming year. Did I mention I'll be giving my talk in a Brazilian thong poolside? (That might appeal to some of you and frighten the rest!) Point is, this will be a great joyful week to bond and build friendships with other HIV+ gay men and folks from around the nation and beyond. Book now and get your airfare early to have an affordable autumn vacation, where you don't have to pay extra for the gas tank of the cruise ship so it beats a long road trip hands down!

If anyone is still thinking of joining many of the other SIN guys on this year's Poz Cruise, the time to reserve is now. I know sometimes we like to wait to the very end but this sailing is rapidly filling up. You won't find better rates that include as much by waiting. In fact some cabin types are already sold out.
The cruise will sail roundtrip from Ft Lauderdale on the deluxe Crown Princess from October 26 - November 2, 2008. We stop at Grand Turk, St Thomas, St Maarten and Princess Cays. We will have the chance to swim and snorkel in some of the best reefs and lounge on pristine beaches of pure white powdery sand. Rates begin at $609 per person plus tax and include all meals, entertainment, private parties, lots of fun games as well as informative lectures by Nelson Vergel and Dr Michael Wohlfieler, two of the most respected HIV specialists in the country.
Thanks to guys at BE ONE CITY for an awesome time volunteering at their booth during SF Pride! Keep up the great work guys. Please check out their website and sign up as a member mentioning SIN. Anyone from SIN who signs up as a member will have a donation made to SIN via BE ONE CITY's corporate sponsor donation program.

-------- Original Message -------- Subject: OUR FIRST GAY PRIDE MARCH AS SIN (its a long one!) From: david@... Date: Mon, June 30, 2008 9:48 pm To: "SIN " <strengthinnumbershq@...>, SINNewYorkCity@yahoogroups.com, bryan@...
Hi Guys -
Well, I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't nervous about SIN NYC's first time participating in the 2008 NYC LGBT Gay Pride March. I'd never walked in the parade with any group, much less organized and lead a group in the march. The extent of my previous experiences included giving a 'hoot and a holler from the sidelines and then running off to the pier dance. All the questions came running through my head. Who will march? How are we gonna march? What do we have have to offer the March? Are we ready for this? Will the guys have fun? Will we make an impact? And finally...Will I regret this?
The funny thing is - the nervous pit in my stomach, the doubt and the questions - they were very reminiscent of the feelings I had before I held the very first SIN NYC event. When something means that much to me, the end result either feels like a complete disaster, OR...
It unfolds as one of the most memorable experiences of my life :) I'm happy to say the the latter is true.
The first sign that things were looking good...we had marchers! Members were signing up, friends of members were walking with us and one special friend of SIN was getting his makeup case all ready. We had enough marchers that would make us a presence in this parade. The next signs of hope were the rickshaw (or pedicab) drivers. I went along with Rob, David G, David B. and Chris G. to their training and I was so jealous that I couldn't drive with them (they only rent out to people with drivers licenses, which I don't have). They were having a blast learning how to drive these things...although I envied them a bit it was a great sign of JOY coming to our march.
So here we are, the day of the march and I have not had any sleep. After the Ritz party, I was at the office all night making posters and side-cards for the rickshaws. Everything was moving along smoothly though - marchers were arriving, rickshaws were in place, we had posters, we arrived in formation on time and READY TO GO! Then there comes the anticipation of moving that kicks in the adrenaline - which is better than 10 cups of coffee. Aside from a promotional Diet Pepsi truck which entered later on in the parade, STRENGTH IN NUMBERS was the first/leading group in our section of HIV/AIDS Organizations. There were up front...and I tell you, I've crossed 5th Avenue thousands of times in my life but there is nothing like having 5th Avenue open up for you like a red carpet. Its like that little bit of horizon at the top of a roller-coaster hill right before you rocket down. The section
Aaaand, we're off! The sun is shining and SIN NYC is marching down 5th Avenue! I just started taking it all in, as we all did. I was surprised, even up at 56th street, how many spectators showed up. Like meeting any group of people for the first time, you don't know how they're going to respond to you. So decided to give it a shot and test the waters...I shouted "HAPPY GAY PRIDE EVERYONE!" and we got a big cheer back from the small crowd. I look behind me and all the guys of SIN NYC are beaming - this cheer was our on switch and there was no turning back! The guys started marching with their chest out, carring out posters, our banner, with others on the side running up to the crowd to start giving out candy and SIN NYC promo cards.
Now, lets see some personality...
As we settled into the march and got our bearings it was so great to see some personalities shine. Take Jefferson, who has been a member of SIN NYC but has been painfully shy. I remember giving him pep talks in the past via email because he would be so nervous about attending events. Well, Jefferson decided that, since he turned 30, that marching with SIN NYC was going to be a turning point for him. He showed up at the march with black boots, the cutest little red plaid skirt and a great big leather whip in his hand. While were were stuck waiting for the parade to keep moving, I was in awe as I saw Jefferson strut in front of that SIN NYC banner, pose for the crowd and twirl that whip over his head and snap it. THE CROWD ATE IT UP! Work it out, Jefferson! When that boy turns a corner, he turns a corner! I don't know about you, but I think some walls broke down that day ;)
Then it was time for Anne Chilada, our resident Drag Queen and self proclaimed Miss SIN NYC. Up until this point, she was waving from the back of the rickshaw driven by daredevil himself, David Braun. I think she wanted to keep in the shade so her makeup didn't melt. I don't know if she thought it was just time to strut or if it was just motion sickness from all of David's rickshaw spins - but she hopped out of that pedicab walked up to the front of our group, looked into the crowd, popped her hands on her hips and struck a pose with her 6'3" frame. I tell you, the best way I could describe it would be like Tyra Banks stomping to the front of a cat walk, stopping at the crowd and and saying "WHAT!". The crowd hollered for her as she posed, praced, preened and danced for every clap and shout.
The energy was flying! Hector and I started to just bombard the crowd, running into them, slapping hands, screaming like banshees a riling up the crowd. Jason from SIN Philly was carrying the "Putting the 'HI!' in HIV" sign, shouting out "Hiiiiiii!" with the SIN boys backing him up and the crowd was waving back yelling "Hi!" David Braun was zipping past the crowd in his rickshaw, Ms. Chilada in tow, spreading his arms out like a winged creature. Then the Rickshaw boys decided "F#*k formation" and started circling around our group toward the crowd at full speed. It was awesome! We might not have had a float, but our SIN boys were engaging the crowd and they were loving us for it. I know Tim's sentiment that we were like a boy band. I would run up to the latina lesbians with my basket and screamed "Ladies! Now, who wants some CANDY!" The ladies squealed, pulled down their tank tops/bras so I could sprinkle pieces of candy down their chests.
Then the march changed and became something significantly different (for all of us)...
It was 1:55pm and the cops stopped our group and it wasn't just for crossing traffic. I looked down 5th Avenue and saw the rest of the parade in front of us proceeding on, already at least 5 city blocks away. The cops told me the MOMENT OF SILENCE was coming up. I almost forgot! I told the guys to be quiet, we had to start quieting down for the moment at 2pm. I remember being a bit impatient, snapping at someone because they were still talking and then someone whispered to me "I don't think everyone know what exactly the Moment of Silence is". So, a calm came over me and I stood in front of SIN NYC and told them that every year, at 2pm during the parade, the entire march stops for a moment of silence to reflect and mourn for our brothers and sisters who have been lost to HIV/AIDS. Now remember, we were now at the front of this part of the parade, no one was in front of us except a few cops and an empty 5th Avenue. We were setting the tone for those behind us. I watched the clock as the guys waited and the moment came at 2pm. What do I do? Say its 2pm? Pray? Instead, I stood in front of our guys, reached my hand up and held up 2 fingers. I didn't know if it was to say "2pm", if it was a peace sign or if it just felt like how my fingers could project an AIDS ribbon - I just went with it. I nodded over to Hector, he held up two fingers. We looked at the guys, then ALL of SIN NYC held up two fingers...and it swept back...AMFAR, GMAC...as far as I could see. Hundreds of people holding up two fingers - IN COMPLETE SILENCE, remembering those we have lost. It truly overwhelmed me and I wept (I'm still shaking when I think about it as I type this) and and I saw tears in some of the eyes of our guys. I turned around at some point to have a private moment and the empty 5th Ave, with the quiet crowd at its sides, was also so overwhelming so, I turned back in to my SIN brothers and cried. This easily was one of the most moving experiences of my life.
And then it was over and the cops cued me that we could move. The SIN boys cheered to signal to the rest of the parade and crowd that it was time to get back to the festivities. Now we had A LOT of catching up to do and and SIN NYC bolted with cheers to fill that empty 5thAvenue. The crowd had been waiting and was happy to see us coming and bringing back the FUN. The rickshaw boys were circling furiously, Tim and Johnnie were both jogging with the SIN Banner, David C was shooting his SUPER SOAKER at the crowd like a machine gun and all the boys were moving like a well oiled WELCOME COMMITTEE! Hector and I leapt towards the crowd again, riling them up and everyone knew that the parade was, indeed, moving again.
Then came the first drop. You would have thought that the rain would have dampered us, but it only felt like a relief and energized the whole group. It down-poured on the parade route and we became a bunch of kids stomping in the puddles. The thunder clapped, it poured and we all looked in each others eyes with a grin, knowing that you just can't re-create a moment like this...live for it. We all started hugging, wishing each other "Happy Gay Pride." I remembered Chris G. telling me how he had always wanted to be kissed in the rain...so I went right up to his rickshaw, leaned over the handlebars, and locked lips with him, and gave it all I got ;) The crowd felt the love too and gave it back as we danced in the rain looking up the sky and taking it all in. As the rain was breaking, I saw a Mom in the crowd holding her little girl, motioning to Anne Chilada to come over. This little girl couldn't be more than two years old and her little face beamed as Anne Chilada pranced over, bent down and kissed her on the cheek. Its a beautiful world its becoming, folks.
Then the rain stopped and we were soaking wet, but it was time for the grand finale...the end of the parade and Christopher Street. The crowds at 34th Street, 23rd Street, 14th street treated us all like rock stars....but Christopher Street was as good as it gets! The love we received from the crowd was amazing. It was was pure craziness and JOY. Christopher Street has the width of someone's living room, so like all of us were wrapped in the arms of this crowd with acceptance and pride. The sunshine was out again and creeping through the trees, creating a tunnel with the thousands of people at the sides. I looked up and guys were hanging off the fire escapes waving back to our group (and flirting with some, hehe). Ms. Chilada started getting the crowd into a cheering competition, so Hector and I followed suit, waving our hands up, sprinting back and forth between each side of this crowd with Chilada pointing, competing to see who could cheer the loudest. I think we all won :)
SIN NYC received a hero's welcome home at the end of the parade route. We were done, wet, tired and filled with pride, wishing we could hop back on and do it all over again. Many of us went back to Chris Tarzia's place for some dry refuge and a change of clothes. The festivities continued throughout the rest of the night - but not through this SINner's eyes. As the remaining boys were joined by others and relaxing, they were still excited from the day's events and had started making plans to grab some celebratory dinner. As for me, it hit me that I had not slept in over 24 hours, yet ran around for 60 blocks like a man who had 60 red bulls. I couldn't keep my eyes open and went to the next room and layed down. As I closed my eyes, I fell asleep with a smile on my face to sounds of giggles and laughter of my SIN brothers after a job well done.
I know this is a long account of the day's events, but I wanted to bring you there with us, at least from this SINner's eyes on Strength In Numbers' first March in one of the largest Gay Pride Parades in the world.
TO ALL THE MEMBERS OF STRENGTH IN NUMBERS, EVERYWHERE - I hope we made you proud.
Cheers to the boys (and at least one big drag queen) who braved the rains of this year's New York City Pride Parade. It was the very first SIN contingent in a Pride parade to my knowledge. And it took a lot of hard work, so hats (or wigs) off to David, the amazing manager of SIN NYC for his dedication and inspiration. You can see a photo of their poz posse on the front page of our main SIN website at:

Hi Bryan. Touching base with you again to see if you help me identify a couple of folks to talk with for an upcoming story in HIV Plus magazine about a new study showing that a regimen of Sustiva plus two nucleosides is now considered by the NIH to be the "best" initial regimen for HIV-positive adults. I'm hoping to talk with some HIV-positive folks who are on such a regimen, and with others who have often wondered and/or asked their doctors about which is the "best" regimen out there (and why being on a "best" regimen is important to them). I'll be conducting telephone interviews in late June, and throughout July. Anyone interested can e-mail me. Thanks so much, Bryan! Hope all is well with you and with all the SIN members ...

Start savings those pesos mis hombres because Strength In Numbers has teamed up with the original HIV cruise organizer to bring you the very first all poz guy cruise! OK, OK, so the entire cruise won't be gay, but we'll be the best dressed at least...
It's 7 days on the Mexican Coast setting sail from Long Beach, California in May 2009. We plan on having 100 to 150 HIV+ gay men sailing as a tight-knit group on a standard luxury cruise liner. Trust us, there will be plenty of sun, sangria, and sizzle. This is purely a recreational trip, so no speeches or presentations, just pool time and exciting excursions in exotic settings. Find out what happens when the now infamous (from last year's HIV cruise) David, Chris, Larry and the rest of the wild SIN NYC bunch take on the West Coast!!!

Hi Bryan,
I'm so glad to hear that there's good indication that your father's recovery is likely to be full and complete. You must be so relieved. I'm undergoing intensive physical and occupational therapy for a double hip replacement surgery I had on Monday which was related to long term use of antiretroviral therapy (perhaps the protease inhibitors specifically). .It's hard work, but with each instance of demonstrated progress comes the motivation to move forward.
The e-mail that I have access to from my hospital bed doesn't have the capacity to "reply all", so this reply is being directed to you alone. If you think it would be beneficial to share with the group at large, I welcome you to forward it.
Your mention of Lipitor to control cholesterol and triglycerides, thus controlling plack build up in the arteries, triggered my need to share a personal experience with another side effect from antiretroviral meds - liver toxicity. Liver toxicity is something else PWAs have to be aware of. While some drugs cause less liver toxicity than others, liver toxicity can also be caused by Hepatitis, Lipitor, and Tylenol products. Once your liver is damaged by ddi scarring or Tipranavir toxicity, excessive alcohol consumption, Lipitor, Tylenol or other toxicities, it is not thought to be reversible. liver replacement is a very dangerous and not very reliable solution, and believe me, you do not want to have permanent liver damage that causes belly bloating if you can avoid it.
The POZ e-mail alert I received just the other day referenced that one in two HIV+ people are or will be affected by some form of lipid abnormaility. Most effective is preventing liver toxicity in the first place, which for some of us, may mean making a bona fide attempt to control lipids through healthy diet and aerobic exercise - no red meats, fried foods, whole dairy, coconut, avacado, nuts, etc., or limitations of those foods. Even with healthy diet, exercise, light drinking, no Lipitor, it is still possible to damage the liver. A 24-year dormant Hep. B, long term use of ddi, and short term use of the very toxic Tipranavir, can cause significant damage, as has been my case.
I urge everyone whose lipids have been affected by HIV and/or its medications to consider non-prescription alternatives to Lipitor in order to avoid undue toxicity to the liver. And I hope that everyone reading this is healthy and happy to their fullest potential.
First of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the support I've received from so many guys across the many Strength In Numbers chapters and our partner poz social groups. It's been incredibly meaningful to me to have those kinds and encouraging words in what I can honestly describe as one of the worst weeks of my entire life.
My dad is now resting comfortably in a nationally recognized stroke rehabilitation center in downtown Seattle where he will stay for approximately one month receiving 3 hours of physical and occupational (learning how to dress himself, brush teeth, make meals, daily life tasks, etc) every day. He's already shown improved mobility on his left side and has movement in his leg which is a fantastic indicator of future recovery, hopefully a full and complete recovery.
The initial diagnosis is that plaque built up on an artery in his brain and then broke free. As this shard was carried through the artery, it probably pierced it and caused the blood rupture which then damaged surrounding neurological tissue. That damage in turn caused the loss of movement on his left side. The brain is very adapt at rerouting electrical impulses around the traumatized region but that is where the rehab will help him train his brain to use new neuron pathways.
Again, this is just a theory of what may have happened, but it's a very important tale for all of us with HIV or on HIV meds that may increase our cholesterol levels thereby increasing a chance of plaque build up. A plaque reducing drug like Lipitor may have prevented such a buildup in the artery. It's rare, but it can happen and we should all see this as a cautionary tale.
Thank you all again for the support and love. I am a very fortunate man to have first survived my struggles with meth addiction and then battling full blown AIDS to now having hundreds of very caring friends around the world and all of you guys in the SIN family of social groups. We started Strength In Numbers over 6 years ago with the idea of building a single, cohesive and empowering network of local social support groups for HIV+ gay men. We are completely manned by volunteers who try their best to organize full social events or manage some very busy message boards where guys can share potentially life saving information about living with HIV/AIDS. I will admit that SIN has a lot of work to do and we haven't always been as successful as I would hope in helping every new SIN chapter grow to its full potential as an active social group with lots of outings and fellowship. But we are trying and trying hard.
My dad's injury has made me that much more aware of how fleeting life can be and that the quality of life is so much more important than the quantity of material stuff you may have in it. The fancy car, the designer clothes, the gym toned body, the hottest boyfriend, all of those status symbols, they all mean next to nothing if you don't have a spiritual core on which to draw strength, even if that's just a real connection to other human beings in your world. So in our SIN groups, we have that chance to build those connections and then have that many more friends who we can turn to for real support when times get tough. If you ever have a life-threatening condition, especially one related to your HIV status, trust me, you will be well served by the network of other HIV+ gay men you are meeting through SIN.
OK guys, please keep yourselves well and thank you again from the depths of my soul!
Unfortunately my father had a double stroke, and I decided to leave the AIDS Life/Cycle yesterday in order to fly to Seattle and be with my family. I'll have very limited access to email and limited time to respond to them. I will return to San Francisco on Sunday afternoon, but will be flying back up to Seattle where my dad is hospitalized as much as possible over the next few months.
He is slowly regaining mobility on his left side, including better ability to speak and see clearer. He's a trooper but he turns 75 this year and his strength is waning. Without Howard Levinson, Strength In Numbers would probably not be in existence since he helped support us financial at different periods of our existence and he is a great believer in our efforts to improve the lives of HIV+ gay men as best we can.
Thank you to everyone who supported me with my AIDS Life/Cycle donation drive. The ride is going strong and well though with lots of guys from Strength In Numbers as participants whether as riders or roadies. So send them your well wishes to stay safe on their journey to Los Angeles from San Francisco.

Hey guys,
This is just a reminder to register for the Poz Brotherhood Retreat by
the end of this week in order to get the discounted rate of only $495
including room and board. After the 15th, the fee will go up to $595.
See details at www.pozretreat.com.
On May 30th, the long awaited "Sex & The City" movie comes out on US screens. Some guys in SIN chapters here in the US and in other countries have asked for good ideas on group outings. I thought that this movie offered up a great chance for guys to plan a group event around a showing of "Sex & the City" in their own city.
How would your group do that? You can ask your chapter manager to help organize it, if they are not doing so already. Or you can just take the ball and run with it by organizing a movie outing yourself. (Well, in this case it would be grabbing a Manolo and strutting with it!)
Go to the Poll section of your Yahoo Group and create a new poll asking guys what day/time they'd want to the movie after it opens in your city. Offer several times on different days (weekends tend to work best for most guys' schedules). Choose the option that anyone answering the poll will have their ID listed next to their selection so you can later contact them about details for attending the movie. And also ask guys to email/call you directly if they are interested. It might be a good idea for guys to meet up as a group before the movie screening that you have collectively choosen, with a nearby coffee shop always a good idea like a Starbucks. Or you can plan to grab dinner after the show to talk about how Miranda is really a lesbian or which "Sex" character you really personalify! (I qualify as all of them, but I'm totally searching for my own Mr. Big...)
For guys outside US, check your local listings for release of the movie in your country. For guys in my SIN SF chapter, we'll probably be seeing it together on the afternoon of Saturday, May 31st, depending on when the orientation for the AIDS Life/Cycle will be wrapping up. Guys from Los Angeles (and elsewhere who are in town for the Ride) are welcome to join us, so just email me for details!
Please respond directly to Paul at his email address, thanks.
NOTE: For international travelers, we will do our best to help you bypass the US "ban" on HIV+ tourists including helping you mail your meds to us to take on ships for you. SIN doesn't support the HIV ban!!!

Bryan,
Is there anyway we can send a mass email blast out to SIN regarding this:
Since this sailing is getting closer to being sold out, on May 19th
Princess will be taking back some of our unsold cabins. It is standard
operating procedure with cruise lines. I'll be able to keep some at
the original group rate but how many cabins will not be determined
until May 19th.
Our Poz Cruise dates are October 26 – November 2, 2008 and we sail from Ft Lauderdale to Princess Cays, St Thomas, St Maarten, and Grand TurkIsland. Rates begin at only $609 plus tax. Please visit http://www.hivcruise.com/ for details.
Once I am sold out in any category (ie: inside, balcony, etc) we may
still sell but Princess could force us to sell them at higher rates.
So I encourage you or friends of yours thinking of joining us to please
A lot of exciting things are going on in our preparations for the Brotherhood Retreat in October this year. I just got back from London where I spent time with our co-facilitator, Alfred Hurst, and worked out more details on our plans. I feel that this will be an extraordinary and empowering event for everyone who attends and so far we have people coming from all over the US, Canada and Europe who have signed up. We still need more to cover our minimum commitment to the retreat center, though, so if you are thinking about this, don't hesitate to send in your registration.
The website has been updated to make it easier to pay your deposit or make a donation via paypal online. We also have printed up some postcards to inform people of the retreat. If you are willing to place some at HIV-clinics, gay gathering places or other relevant locations in your community to help get the word out, please shoot us an email. This is all about creating a grass-roots movement and your participation is strongly encouraged.
We have received a donation earmarked for a young person who recently found out that they are poz to attend the retreat at a substantial discount. If you want to apply for this scholarship, please email us as soon as possible.
We have also extended the early registration discount period until May 15 and simplified the fee structure for later registrations. Check the website, www.pozretreat.com, for details on that.
I will be doing some presentations and answering questions in person at a couple of events in the coming weeks. First off, I will be presenting at Being Alive in West Hollywood, CA this Tuesday, April 22 at 7PM. The second presentation will be in San Francisco. Exact date to be decided, but most likely it will be on Saturday, May 3.
Feel free to email me in the meantime with any other questions you may have!
