2. Avoid telling everything about yourself in your profile. Leave a
little room for mystery. You will have plenty of time to share more
once you meet the right person.
3. Your personal ad should be happy and positive. (No Pun Intended). Always avoid negative comments.
4. Be yourself. You are the perfect you! Exaggerating and bragging
will most likely come back to bite you. (On second thought, that may
be fun).
5. Posting your e-mail address or other contact information may seem
like a good idea, but it may make you look less than honest.
6. Take the time to express yourself. Show your personality. Instead
of saying, “I have a great sense of humor,” show your humorous side. But be careful, don't over do it with too much humor. Express a little
bit of all your personality traits.
7. A picture is worth a thousand words and it really helps your
profile get noticed. Have a professional photographer take your
pictures. If you do it yourself, take many pictures. Use different
lighting, expressions, and clothing. (I always get nervous when
having my picture taken and it always shows in the photo. So, I
learned a little trick; Jump up and down, act silly, laugh out loud,
etc. Then, immediately take the shot. This will help you overcome
photo fear and your picture will look more un-staged).
8. Never give money or disclose personally identifiable information. If a "Model" is stranded in Nigeria and needs money to get home,
simply tell the person to contact the American Embassy and they will
be happy to help. If you notice a questionable profile, please tell
us.
9. Be courteous. Always respond to e-mail, even if you are not
interested. This person may not be right for you. However, someone
else, who they talk with, may be. We are a close community and it's
always best to be courteous.
10. Finally, Have fun! The best is yet to come.
