From your meeting notes, you may recall that Kass is the New Member Maven. Once an application is filled out, it goes to her. Kass will then follow up with the applicant if there are questions, and then bring the applications to the group for a vote at our meetings. We do not have a vote by proxy, to vote you must be present at the meeting.
I'm very happy to have this process gathering a shape. Many thanks to Gerah for getting this piece created, and to Kass for the pieces yet to come!
Subject: [simplywellcollective] Member Application
Hello Simply Well Collective,
At our last meeting we discussed the idea of bringing in new members to our group, and that we decided an application process is needed. I have uploaded the file to our Yahoo group - if you encounter someone who you think might be a good fit for our group, please have them fill this out. You could print it or email it to them...
Thank you, please let me know if you have any questions!

I have spoken to most of you... Anyway, I know that Dollys' son's
birthday is tomorrow so she will be there in spirit! And Tory is in
Houston putting together the music for a festival there: Go Tory!
I have the info regarding Hospice ideas, Martha. And am so excited
about the Feb newsletter!!!
See you tomorrow!
Ginjah and I are doing another workshop and we would like to get it into the newsletter. This is Ginjah's baby, so I don't feel comfortable writing copy for it. I called her to encourage her to get it to you asap. Please let me know if that happens, otherwise I will write a little something.

This is a reminder that February 11 at 7:00 pm will be the next Simply Well meeting. This should be fast and fun. We will discuss our successes and look forward to our future goals. At this writing, it will be held at the Uncommon Threads Espresso Cafe.
Please rsvp. I look forward to seeing you all there!
I agree! What a fun event.
Our artist sold several things and the foot traffic for reflexions was great!
Everyone was so excited, regardless of the weather. Imagine a spring
or summer Art Hop!
More wine and more music would also be wonderful.
I would recommend 6-9, instead of 5-8. We were slow until almost 6
and then it went crazy.
If a holiday one is done next year, it should be a week, or so,
earlier. ( Not to compete with K-zoo's, which is the first week of
each month.)
Thanks.

Wasn't that art hop something? While the ideas and energy are still fresh, would you please offer your feedback on this forum for everyone to read? These things will be taken to a meeting with the arts council so that we can process the event, learn, and effectively plan another.
What went right? What went different than you expected? How could we make an event like this better? The most important questions to me are, "Would you participate in another art hop?" "Would you participate in another themed event similar to this (theater, sports, antiques and collectibles, cars, christmas trees of the world, etc)?"
I definitely would participate in another art hop. Even though I didn't get a chance to see any art other than what was in Uncommon Threads. My business is a part of the performing arts, so the hop ties in very easily with what I do.
I did get immediate business from this event. I know I have at least two new students.
I don't require that my students play for any of my events. If they do it, it's either because they signed up, or their parents made them. I get about 90% voluntary sign up every time! They love playing live, even though they are really nervous. This gave them an opportunity to be a part of something greater than themselves, to plug into their community. This event gave them an opportunity to learn how to be "background music" and not the featured presentation. So in terms of what I do, this was an incredibly important event.
Since Simply Well is an advertising collective, it is important to talk about exposure. I have already heard from some of you that the amount of people that came to town was impressive and that many people noticed your business for the first time. This is that piece of advertising that is so hard to track, but obviously effective.
Would you please get the Simply Well email sign up sheets back to me or Gerah asap? The broad email list is our next big push into the future for monthly newsletters.
Please take a few minutes soon to process your experience with the art hop. Dina and I will be meeting after the holidays.
I am flying high on our collective successes from the art hop!!! My phone has been ringing with congratulations that I don't really deserve. So hats off especially to Dina for all your efforts! Dina, you really made this happen. Hats off to the artists and the rest of the arts council! My special thanks to Pam for stepping in as the Simply Well representative after we had a sudden death in our family.
But I also want to especially thank all the merchants who participated. You, who spent countless hours cleaning, re-arranging and decorating, making spreads of food and beverage, making things special for this one 3 hour event. You are the ones paying the bills all year long so that an event like this could happen. You are the ones who believe enough in our community to try something like this. Many thanks to the DDA for being the main source of funding to promote this event.
I for one, would be in favor of doing this again. Twice a year even!
Dina Ebeling-Hestera and Martha Meek got together to talk about an art hop in downtown Allegan. To celebrate the successful event that resulted from their vision, we're hosting an
After the Art Hop Party
Friday, December 19 @ 8:30pm
Tom & Linda Clark's
340 Monroe Street, Allegan
We've invited participating Allegan Art Hop artists,
our wonderful Hop Stop shopkeepers, a few
friends and all the members of the Arts Council.
Of course, anyone is welcome to bring a guest!
Please respondto 673-7080 or by return email.
Directions: From downtown take Water Street to Monroe Street (Village Market corner) and turn left. Our house is just one block up on the right past the fire station. It is the only one lit for the holidays, so you can't miss it! Unfortunately, there is no street parking. If you plan on staying awhile, park in our driveway (Be sure to pull all the way up to the barn, as there is a back exit onto Cedar St.) OR drive past the house, straight through the light at Cedar St., and park. It is less than half a block walk to the house from there.
Gobble the turkey, stuff yourself on pie...then come and see the classic film, "White Christmas," this weekend with your family at the Griswold Auditorium.
Friday and Saturday, 7pm and Sunday at 2pm.
Show features a pre-show holiday entertainment and a post-show sing-along with Santa!
Tickets are $7 at the door.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We do need ushers for Saturday and Sunday, as well as volunteers to help pass out flyers at the Allegan holiday parade on Friday night for White Christmas and a Christmas Carol. The parade starts at 7pm... Email me if you are interested!
I am! : )

Hi Group,
Even though my coupon on the flyer was for makeup... I sold a gift
certificate for a Reiki Session! I'm thrilled. I'm also being told
that there is allot of inquiries concerning my work. All good.

I've booked a memorial service from the flyer. Given the nature of
what I do, I don't expect a surge of business directly related to
the flyer, but it helps to get the word out.

Hey Group,
I think our initial efforts with the Simply Well campaign are already charting
some successes!
I have had 3 new students sign up, which really points to the effectiveness of
our concept. I
have heard from a few of you already about business generated from the fair
parade fliers.
We would like to hear from all of you about the impact on your business. We

not all of you will have such clear cut results, but we'd like to hear what has

happened. We would appreciate it if those of you who have spoken to me or Pam

Hi all,
Looks like a few of you have joined the simply well yahoo group so far... Thank
you. As I was
reviewing my files, it looks like SOME HOW I created two simply well groups.
This one, titled
"simplywellcollective" is the one I'd like to use. I deleted the other. Sorry
about that.
More information to come soon. Stay tuned. Thanks again!
