Hello. On another list we've been having a discussion about plants
giving off oxygen. I was always taught that they take in carbon
dioxide and give off oxygen. Now someone says
<During the day while photosynthesis is the dominant process in leaves,
carbon dioxide is taken up from the air and used in the process of
making sugars. At night, when photosynthesis does not occur -
respiration does(cellular respiration/gas exchange) occur, which gives
off carbon dioxide just as it does in animals.>
Is this true, does anyone know? Just doesn't sound right to me, but
what the heck do I know? :-)
thanks
Renee
