Welcome to "shydrager" the Online Multiple System Atrophy(MSA) Support Group
Our History:
In May 1995, the Vanderbilt Autonomic Dysfunction Center initiated a free electronic mail list so that patients with Shy-Drager Syndrome (now known as MSA) and their caregivers could network with each other. The list is open to patients, caregivers, and others who are interested in MSA. This electronic 'party line' allows anyone to ask or answer a question, post information on medication and treatments, share the good and the bad times, etc.
In July 2000, the list was moved from the Vanderbilt University server and now resides on Yahoo! Groups.
In May 2001, we welcomed our 500th member and initiated a fundraiser in their honour, this raised over $15,000 that went to various MSA charities.
In April 2007, we welcomed our 1000th member with the "1000 Pennies for 1000 Members" campaign. Over 22 Million pennies($227,890) were donated to various MSA charities.
Today this group is literally a lifeline for 1400+ members from 25+ countries. Very soon the 100,000th message will be posted to the group!
