A quick update about SHARE Atlanta's fall activities..with the major change of
NO Memorial Service this year and a quest at the Women's Group meeting this Wed.

1. Meetings as scheduled...Men and Women's Grief Group on the first Friday of
each month; Women's Grief Group on the third Wednesday of each month. Tammy
White and Marcia McGinnis are the group facilitators for our groups. The topic
for Sept. is Grief and Future Choices (support and ideas for medical and
personal decisions) and the topic for October is The Significance of You and
Your Baby(special keepsakes, poems, and pictures may be shared during this

***Note about Women's Meeting: We will have a mom with us who will help us
explore getting second doctor and high risk opinions around subsequent
pregnancies. We always discuss visiting your ob, another ob, and, often a high
risk doctor BEFORE you begin the process of becoming pregnant. We will talk
about how to approach these doctors and how comforting this information and
support can be during a subsequent pregnancy. Please join us.

2. There will be no Angel Garden Memorial Service this year. Please pass this
information along to anyone who you know that usually attends this activity.

3. There will be our annual Women's Candlelighting on the third Wednesday of
November during the regularly scheduled Women's group meeting. This year is Nov.
18 at 7 pm. Email me for directions. As usual, we will be making a memorial tree
for a local hospital during this service. We hope you will join us for this
special time.

During the candlelighting, we will be decorating our annual memorial tree for
families whose baby has died before or shortly after birth. Many SA parents buy
an ornament for our tree and one for a keepsake. Your baby's name and/or date
may be on your ornament. The ornament is your choice—one that reflects your love
for your baby. This is an optional activity during our candlelighting.

4. All of our forums are up and running as is our website. Please come and share

6. October 13- SHARE Atlanta 2 hour (1 to 3:30) Inservice at Wellstar
Developmental Program off of Windy Hill/I75- for GA Ob high risk nurses and
social workers - I need several interested parents to participate with me. I
will be doing my power point and carrying the major part of this inservice.
Parent input is an important additional part of this twice annual SA
presentation. If you are interested in considering being there for this, please
contact me. It is our time to share supportive ideas to a listening and open
group of nurses. They will be taking our information back to their hospitals and
to future families who will experience a pregnancy or newborn loss.

7. We will be sending out our 5B's packets to hospitals sometime in
October/November. We need new hospital contacts for this activity. We take these
to every hospital that has an OB section. So, if you would like to be the
contact for a hospital near you, let me know.

8. We need additional phone volunteers. If reaching out - briefly - to newly
bereaved parents is important to you, please consider helping SA in this
important outreach. Contact me if you want more information.

9. Northside Hospital will be holding their annual Walk to Remember on October
18th. Please check out their website for more information if you are interested.

We hope you will join us for some of our events. Our group is here only if
parents get involved. We support one another all along the pathway of healing.
Those who are further along their path...and beyond...are important for the
continuing outreach of our group. We are grateful to all of those who support
our mission. Healing happens-over time- as we support one another and open
ourselves to understanding of grief and to various options.
