Please, be informed that the 3rd Edition of the African Youth Peace Conference AYPC to commemorate the UN – World Peace Day ealier scheduled for Cairo - Egypt has now been rescheduled to hold in (Port Harcourt – Rivers State) Nigeria on September 21 – 24, 2008, with the Theme : ‘ African Youth for Peace and Development’.
The decision for Nigeria to host the Conferenece was reached on May 6, 2008, during the Continental Steering Committee Meeting of the African Youth Peace Ambassadors, which is a body charged by the Principl Organizers Centre for Advocacy & Development in Africa CADA, to liase with the UNHCR, Governments and other Statkeholders in hosting the Annual event around the Continent.
The choice of the Niger Delta Region to host the Conference is to provide an enabling enviroment for other African Youth to join hands with Stakeholders in support of the ongoing Nigeria Governemnt’s effort to address the issue of Youth Restiveness in the Oil rich Region, which is one of the Seven Piont Agenda of President Yar’ Adua’s Administration to promote the culture of Peace & Dvelopment in Nigeria and Africa at large.
The Principal Organizers CADA has gotten approval of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in Nigeria and the National Orientation Agency NOA as Technical Partners of the Conference and the Planning Committee Meeting has commenced sitting at ( Orientation & Peace Education Department) NOA Headquarters – Abuja.
