where are you from ?
Is your child close to any kid around his age ?
Or is he close to his cousins ?
My child is 5 years old, and he has not spoken in school during the last 2
years.
Was very difficult for him cos the kids labelled him as 'the kid who doesnt
speak'. and he wets himself sometimes.
Some time in March, we brought him to the daycentre care that his cousin is
attending. As he is quite close to his cousin, he whispered a little in class.
His father and IĀ can tell that he is very uncomfortable in the new environment
but we were very glad that he spoke.
After a week, we brought him to the same school that he has attended for the
past year, and to our surprise, he started talking.
I am not sure if this method works on every kid, but it's worth a try.
Let me know if you need any help. I can fully empathise with what you are going
through.
Regards

Subject: [Selective Mutism Support Group] I have a child with selective mutism
I have a 6 year old son who has selective mutism. I really needed to
get in touch with other parents. I have been homeschooling him because
he completely freaks out if we try to leave him. I am frusterated and
need some new ideas. Thanks
