Hello everyone...although I am not a newcomer to the group I have not
posted a message in awhile.
My daughter Katie is five and in kindergarten. She was diagnosed
with SM about 20 months ago. We have read all we can and seem to
have an understanding, but now find ourselves wondering what to do??
She was blessed with an unbelieveable teacher this year and seemed to
start the year with some progress. She would talk to me, well
whisper really, when I came to school to have lunch with her. She
would also make noises to the teacher. Katie talks non-stop at home
and with a selective group of people in a comfortable setting. She
has also made tapes for the teacher and her classmates. Now, she
seems to be regressing a bit. We called our peditrician yesterday
and she is now suggesting meds...which we have avoided to this
point. We still would like to try every other option before we go
there and I am turning to all of you for HELP. Please tell me what
has worked for you and where I should turn....I feel desperate.
