Re: [Selective Mutism Support Group] Does anyone have feedback on use of Prozac ?

Dear Tom
Prozac changed my daughter for the better. She has been on it for 8 months and
it has helped her tremendously. She is now able to speak in public. Of
course, she also had therapy with a competent psychologist who works with SM. I
too was reluctant to start her on meds; but her therapy was not progressing.
After prozac was introduced (at a very low dose), she started making great
progress with therapy. She is now a "recovered selective mute". She will
continue to stay on prozac for one full year because the rate of relapse is high
if taken off too soon. The side affects are minimal and the rewards are great.
Hope this helps,
Victoria

My daughter has SM. Does anyone have feedback, positive and/or negative on the use of Prozac? Thanks, Tom...
