Yes, my mother had developed chronic lung disease. She did not notice it
until around winter time. Make sure she is not out of in the cold for too
long at a time and stay completely away for smoke. Also, make sure she
doesn't have to do too much work or even exhaust herself too much because I

Hi Diane,
My Mom has had SD for about 20 yrs. She has had Shingles several times.
Sometimes have been worse than others. It can be very painful. Shingle
actually affect the nerve endings on the skin. She is most contagious the first
7 to 10 days. The first time my got Shingles I wast 3 weeks pregnant with my
daughter. I was very nervous. I had to stay away from her for 2WEEKS!!! That
was so difficult since we are so close. She had also gotten them when my
children were Babies. I had to keep her from them for about 2 weeks. You
should not have any worries with Christmas. That is about 2 1/2 wks away from
now. I would just keep an eye on things as the time gets closer. If she is
worse in 2 wks than I would re-think things. Where did she come down with the
Shingles? My Mom had them on her scalp. I cried with her! That was the most
painful for her. She actually lost hair from them. Some hair has grown back.
You just need to wait things out. I am sure the medication will help her.
Trust me, I FEEL FOR YOU!!!!!!
I hope this helps you and relieves some stress for you.

thought since i was posting - and actually had some time today -
happy 4th BTW...i'd let youknow what was happening on our end -
my mom has had some minor set-backs. the doc and her podiatrist
talked her into buying some "special" shoes - ones with a higher toe
box. and to the tune of $400+ (thank goodness insurance covered
most of it).
well - these shoes caused a sore on the side of her foot/ankle. and
we all know how things like that heal. so it's been 2 months now
back and forth to the wound center - it's almost healed up
completely - the problem...she can't put on a shoe and because of her
feet all she can really wear are flimsy bedroom slippers - so she has
also been home for 2 months. this is really frustrating her because
it's summer time - and when she can actuall y get out to do something
she is stuck at home - it wouldn't bother her so much if it was
winter when she stays home most of the time anyway -
plus - she has some gravel in one of her kidneys - so doc told her to
drink cranberry juice - which has now interacted funny with one of
her meds giving her a picky feeling in one of her cheeks off and on...
sigh - so we're dealing on this end - it's all those stupid little
things that frustrate you enough - cuase they usually turn into
something bigger -
anyway - hope everyone has a great holiday -
write when you can -
diane

how is everyone? doing ok here - board seems to be quiet again -
mom has had a bit of a set back this week - a few weeks ago the doc
orderd a new pair of shoes for her - with a taller toe box - and to
the tune of $400 - sigh - thank goodness to good insurance - anyway -
she wore them for a bit, and the shoe has caused a sore on the side
of her ankle -
the sore hasn't gone away - gotten worse - not infected, but very red
and sore - her doc sent her to the wound center at the hospital - so
we're dealing with that - as you all know it takes forever for
anything to heal - so she has been sitting with her feet up and not
wearing a shoe -
i keep telling her - sometimes god gets tired of us ignoring his
whispers to slow down, and he has to shout at us - this after i
dislocated my shoulder last year around this time, and a bout a month
ago broke my foot -
so, i hope everyone is well -
diane
hmmm - can't get it to work as a clickable link, but thae addy is

it also shows up at teh bottom of the page as the related link...
also note - at the bottom of the messages i have added yahoo answers

can answer someones questions - or post a question of your own....
