My mom passed away on June 19 after an courageous
battle with CREST Syndrome. She was diagnosed in 1990,
and did quite well for a few years. Two years ago she
started on oxygen full time as her lungs developed
scarring, and she had problems with her esophagus and
digestion. She always had very bad Raynauds, and over the
last 3 months she had incredible pain as her right
foot tissue started dying because of poor circulation.
Her heart had become badly damaged from the disease.
She never complained, and was so brave about
everything. She was determined to make it to my son's 1st
birthday party, which she did, and then just couldn't
fight anymore. She died one week later at home, where
she wanted to be. My heart goes out to all of you
that are supporting someone with this horrible disease
