For the first couple of weeks, I stayed rather hungry feeling, but
thought "it will not last forever, I can do anything for a few
weeks". Sure enough, it is really getting better. I have been careful
to exercise portion control. I am eating more than the 1/4 cup of
food they say we will eat after a fill, but I try to keep it to
between one and two cups total for a meal. I also have not had any
sweets, no white bread (have only had 1 slice of rye toast since
surgery, and that was to sop up the yolk of a soft boiled egg), still
no pasta, rice, or anything starchy. Sticking with lots of soups,
tuna, chicken and crab salads, a few eggs, and protein shakes with
skim milk. I find that I am not nearly as hungry now as I was a week
or so ago. I get full on the smaller portions. In fact, sometimes I
do not finish the food I get in my dish - and that is OK!! I have put
away my large dinner plates for the time being, and if having
something that does not need a bowl, will use the little breakfast
plates (salad plates). Seeing a big, almost empty plate would be
disheartening, so I use a small plate, spread the food around, and
feel like I am eating a lot. Silly perhaps, but we do what we have
to. The short answer is - you will feel hungry for a while, but try
to maintain portion control, and it will get much better. It is a
real thrill to sit down to a small meal and find that you get full
before you are even finished. Remember - there is nothing wrong with
not cleaning your plate.
I do not get my first fill until March 14. After that, the 1/4 cup of
food should make a meal.
Nothing tastes as good as slim feels !!!
