There is a clothing exchange at the VBGH support meeting in July. Maybe someone else can fill in the details. I was at the VBGH support group for the June meeting and it was nice, but I can not remember the exact date or time for July. The building is across from the emergency room. I can not remember the name of the bldg.
Hey Guys, I was wondering now that all of my clothes are starting to get too big if anyone knows of or would be interested in a clothes exchange? Thanks

There is no exact walking schedule yet. Just whatever works. However, since I am not working this summer, I have all day...from early morning to afternoon. I'm willing to walk with anyone who is willing to walk with me. It would be a great motovation for all of us. At the Sentara Health & Fitness Center, you do not have to be a member to walk around the course outside. So, for those who are not members of SHFC, no problem. If anyone is interested in walking, please post and I will contact you privately to set up a time/date.

Ok Everyone. Terry and I started walking together at the Sentara Health & Fitness Center recently. He mentioned to me that we should start a walking group that would go to different places to accomodate as many as possible. It could be early morning/afternoon/evening. I would love to get us all together more than once a month and what better way? It doesn't have to be @SHFC. We could meet @ Noland Trail, any local HS track, Newport News Park. Anywhere there is a walking/running trail. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Terry and I will continue to walk at various places throughout the peninsula. Hope to hear from you all. Lisa, a support group in NC would be great. We have had a number of patients come to us from NC. I suggest you look into support group information from ObesityHelp.com. They are a wealth of information and support and will provide leadership training as well.

Hi Lisa. Welcome. It would be wonderful for you to bring your
cookbooks that you have to the next group meeting. I'm sure others
would love to flip through the pages. Also, with gastric bypass
becoming more commonplace, I'm sure a NC group will establish before
too long. Until then, please try to continue the monthly meeting.
Part of your success with weight loss or weight management will be
through seeking support from others. I look forward to seeing you
there.

Welcome Ellie and Gail! Ellie, your weight loss is wonderful. Keep up the great work.
No weight loss is like the first six months so make the best of it with proper exercise and nutrition. I'm sure you are. Gail. WELCOME!! You have made a wonderful decision joining this online community. This a great way for you to hear the thoughts and concerns of GBP patients at different pre-op and post-op levels. I will be 3 years post-op in Sept. I've lost 110lbs. Staying active with the support groups and communicating with other GBP patients has helped me maintain a healthy weight. Along with nutrition, exercise and behavioral modification of course. Good luck in your decision to have a gastric by-pass. We are all here for YOU!

Amanda, Better days are ahead! You will be AMAZED when you step on the scales at the office. You can be creative with your diet as long as it's low sugar (5-8gms or less) and low fat. A few suggestions: Egg drop soup (strained); Won Ton soup (strained), chicken noodle soup(strained), use your yogurt or pudding as a basis for a smoothie with a banana, freeze the smoothie and eat like ice cream. Make sure you are concentrating on your protein. You can add some protein powder to most anything. Lots of water flavor and flavorings out there, too. Remember, this is temporary and all worth it!

Last nights meeting was good. I was really surprised to see all the
people yet to have surgery. I had someone come up to me after the
meeting to ask questions, glad to be able to help there. I wasn't
thrilled doing excercise just 2 weeks after surgery but I did it and it
really wasn't bad. Of course I couldn't let Susie see me not doing
it. A special thanks to Susie for all the support she gave me while I
was in the hospital BOTH times. She will forever remain my inspiration!
-Hey !!!!!!! Last group I was really inspire by jennifer about
resuming my Gym workouts.I never stop paying my monthly fee after five
months of my last appendectomy exploratory surgery so today I return
to ATC FITNESS in Ward`s corner , Norfolk , Virginia.I`m very
proud ,humbly,I should say , that I started my workouts again.I
started with 22 minutes in the stationary bycicle, and yes I did
sweat. Then I did fifteen repetitions in every machine ,with 20,30 and
40 lbs. and finally I top it with the grand finalled sixty minutes on
the tread mill starting at an incline of 2,and speed of 2.8 , gradually
increasing both incline and speed as my knees allow me to.And yes I
felt great after a five months absence from the gym.I know I`m
back.Thank you guys for your support If It was`nt for the group I
probably would not have the inspiration to start exersising again. With
all wishes for Peace Profound , ENRIQUE (Kushala (wholesome) Ciao!!!--

Glad to see ya'll taking advantage of the on line support group. This
is really cool to be able to communicate with everybody between
meetings. Jen---You are so d--- perky! This weekend my husband and I
resurfaced the concrete decking around our pool. My knees and butt
hurts. CONCRETE IS HARD! I'll get back to the gym about Thurs. You
are quite the motivator.
Enrique--thanks for the sweet comment. You have such a great spirit.
Thanks for being such an encourager for me and the whole group!
Hi Everyone. I completely expect each of you to do at least 15 mins of
activity today. A brisk walk, RUN, or anything that will make you
break a sweat. No just kidding. Of course, if you do, please let us
know. I am passionate about exercise and see it as the key to
maintaing my health. If anyone is interested in joining a walking
group or starting one, I am as well. I'm also curious which gyms any
of you are members of? Having someone meet me at the gym is always a

get support more than just once a month at meetings from you all.
Have a great day.

In case you wonder Kushala is Sanskrit for wholesome;any activity based
on the wholesome roots,i.e.,(that is) the absence of
passion, aggresion, and delusion. I chose the name due to my intention of
living a wholesome life.Last night it was a great meeting ,my second
one ; I missed the 2nd one,two out of three ,not bad.I enjoy the
mederator Susie Rohling much love for her.As always very
informative ,sincere ,and with that graet smile, nice topic Body Image
after weight loss. What stucked must for me was "" Develop criteria for
self esteem that goes beyond appearance."" I also taste appreciatively
the presentation by Jennifer about her life story and her successful
weight loss.I personally think she is Miss Energy ,because she radiates
such magnetic energy,I look forward to her workout rutine for the next
group;some wine and cheese would`nt be bad SICKED!!! (JOKE)Ha,ha,Ha...
Well like the chinese say "" May you all live interesting times.""
Peace !!!! Enrique
