Re: [sch_gastric_bypass_support] Support Groups

Hi Tamara,
I can ask around for you and get back to you.  But in the mean time utilize this online group to ask as many questions as you can.  We are all here to offer suggestions and our first hand experiences.  This is a pretty diverse group and our group has a lot of information to guidance to offer.  If you are ever over on the peninsula in hampton please drop in on the Sentara support group meetings there as well.  But I will ask about the beach.

Ask away,

Terry

Hi Terry

I live in VB near the Wal-Mart supercenter on Lynnhaven. My surgery
will be in Portsmouth and I am having trouble finding a support group
local. Is there one in VB you can recommend ? I have soooo many
questions.

Thank you
Tamara

July 7, 2004. I use to weigh 420 lbs. and loss 230 lbs. I have
gained a few lbs. back but I feel great. Who is doing you sons
surgery? Where will he have the surgery? All I can say is that this
will be a new beginning for him and will not regret it as long as he
follows his doctors advice. Is he going to have Gastric or Lap-band?

I would strongly recommend it. It is important that he connects with
a few people going through the same experience at the same time.
The reason for this is that he will have a built in support group
experiencing things simultaneously. That was a big thing for me when
I went through it because I could call him and ask him what he had
ate and how he was doing.
>
> Alot of Female patience have the surgery I felt that it was
important to have another male to talk to. Men and womens bodies are
different as we all know so I thought having anther guy to talk to
beneficial. If you should have any other questions please feel free
to ask. I have spoken to our groups support group meeting several
times and if there is not another guy going through the surgery at
the same time I would be more than happy to talk with him and keep
him motivated.
