Having problems with message search?

Thanks for responding. We start our support group tomorrow. Shean weighs 410 lbs. He is having surgery in VA. Beach. I hope he will have bypass. We have done alot of research and I think that one is the best one for his age. I am so scared for him but I am more scared for him not to get this done. Once we finish the support group meetings how long does it take to actually get the surgery? We have to go to a siminar and then 2 support groups before we see the Dr. Is that normal? I realize that we will need to continue to go to support groups afterwards. But I was just wondering what the timeline was. How long were in the hospital for after the surgery? Did you get laproscopic?

If you have not started going to your local support group meetings I would strongly recommend it. It is important that he connects with a few people going through the same experience at the same time. The reason for this is that he will have a built in support group experiencing things simultaneously. That was a big thing for me when I went through it because I could call him and ask him what he had ate and how he was doing.
Alot of Female patience have the surgery I felt that it was important to have another male to talk to. Men and womens bodies are different as we all know so I thought having anther guy to talk to beneficial. If you should have any other questions please feel free to ask. I have spoken to our groups support group meeting several times and if there is not another guy going through the surgery at the same time I would be more than happy to talk with him and keep him motivated.
He will do fine just support him in this and let him know that everything will be ok!!! I do not mean to sound like it is a walk in the park, but if he remembers that
the surgery is a tool in which will allow him to learn new and effective eating habits he will be fine.
Please ask as many questions that you need we will all be here to support you and your son on his journey.
