I am about a month & half post-opt and I still hear comments like your co-worker made. "if you just go to the gym and eat salads, blah blah", but obviously that isn't working!!!!  There will always be "those people", they never really go away. I had a few people say to me, I didn't think you were THAT big to need such a surgery..., but unless you're actually in the position to have it done, people don't understand your frame of mind or why you would make such a decision for this surgery. Unless you've battled with your weight, the emotional and mental and physical torture you put yourself thru is uncomprehensible to others. Just shrug those people off. DON'T let it bother you. You know what's best for you. I needed gastric bypass in order to not eat those foods anymore, since I can't it's much easier. It's hard to find food to eat, because I was so used to getting fast food or eating pizzas or whatever was quick, but it's a whole new way of life. It's still a diet, and it's a lot of work, but you're worth the result and you just have to remember that with the idiots who make such horrible comments!  Good luck with your surgery!!!

I share in your pain I am waiting for my date too. Have you met any resistence from peole that know you are having gastric bypass? I had one girl at my work who was shocked the insurance company would even pay for "such a surgery" needless to say lunch was not very comfortable after that. She said all I would have to do is eat less and only the good foods, blah, blah, blah....

Okay....I waiting on a surgery date :(....which is painful. But
