I have lost 150 pounds. I lost that at about 1 1/2 years. I go up and down now 3-4 pounds. I now live in Michigan and go to a support group here. It is not the same as the one in Virginia but is has helped me stay on track. I feel that I could lose 10-15 more but my family really doesn't want me to. I feel great but I still see the fat me. They say that is normal. In my head I know it is different because I can tell in clothes. I went from a size 26 women's pants and now I am in a 10-12. I am really happy with that. I am almost 6ft tall. I was 327 before surgery and now I am 176-180. I think I would like to get down a little more but if I get the skin removed I think that would be the 10 pounds. So I don't know if I have meat my goal yet. I walk more than anything. Before the heavy snow hit here I was walking the dogs 4 miles a day. Since the snow we bought a tread mill and I walk on that. I would like to go to the gym but I feel funny going by myself. Since we moved I no longer work and haven't met very many people that don't work also. I am going to be helping coach a high school track team this year and I think that will help get more activity in. Who knows maybe that last ten pounds will go away. : ) Well I hope that I haven't talked your ear off. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.Linda Wright-----Original Message-----

Subject: RE: [sch_gastric_bypass_support] Newbie questions Thank you for your input. I'm drinking my liquids and Protein drinks like Dr. Terracina ordered and seem to be on track. Another person answered that the breath/taste in my mouth was due to losing ketones and that was good because it meant I was burning fat. Well that sounds positive I guess. I got some sugar free gum to chew today and that helps a little until I spit it out.So how is your weight loss after 2.5 years? How long did it take to meet your goal? Did you go to the gym regularly? I can't wait to get back to the gym!

Subject: RE: [sch_gastric_bypass_support] Newbie questions Hell Debbie WELCOME!!!First off congratulations on having the surgery! You will find it is the best thing you have done. I had surgery almost 2 1/2 years ago. I too did not have a bowel movement for several days .. They told me that it is okay unless when you do go you have to push really hard. Dr. Clarks comment was if you feel like you are busying a brick through then that is not good. : ) Make sure you are drinking water water and more water. I think that the pain medications will cause constipation too. I still, to this day go to the bathroom once or twice a week. I think it is because you don't have as much in you to come out.As far as the bad breath I am not sure. That is a new one for me. Maybe it is from the anesthesia and having a dry mouth?? Not sure, when you go to the doctor ask him and I would also love to hear the answer to that. Who did your surgery? I wish you the best and keep us informed on how you are doing. Feel free to ask ANY questions!!!Linda Wright-----Original Message-----

Subject: [sch_gastric_bypass_support] Newbie questions Hello everyone, I had the gastric bypass done on Jan 29, 2008. I've
been home for two days now and am feeling good. I'm tired alot (pain
meds mostly to blame) but I have not yet had a BM. The last one I had
was tuesday morning before surgery. Is this normal? I have gas quite
a bit and am not uncomfortable or feeling like I have to go but can't.
I was always regular prior to this. I do have gas alot and to top off
am starting my period today, ugh!
Should I just wait it out or take something now before I am uncomfy?
I noticed no one is has really talked on here in a while and am hoping
there are people out there I can talk to about this as I'm sure I'll
have some more questions.
I also seem to have issues with bad breath, which I never had, is this
from the surgery/diet change. I'm brushing my teeth and using mouth
wash 4-5 times a day!
Debbie
