Hi,
You sound like you have had a very rough time with everything. You
are right this surgery isn't "easy". I am 16 weeks Post Op as of
today. For me I have been doing great (knock on wood LOL) the only
real trouble I have had has been from eating too fast twice. For me
the hardest part of the whole thing has been reprogramming to really
look at what I eat and determine whether it's a worthy or unworthy
food. I have logged everything I have eaten since day one in the
hospital no matter what. I keep track of the calories, protein and
carbs as well and try to stick within the suggested range I was
given. For me if I feel I am off track it gives me something to look
back at and see exactly what I was doing when things were going
smoothly and what I have changed since. Then I just try to get back
to where I need to be using my history of where I have been.
Remember everyone is totally different some have no issues at all and
some may have every issue. But keep in mind the more health problems
you have initially sometimes contribute towards any issues that may
arise after surgery. It's all really a toss up. If you follow
everything they suggest to you and don't get off track too much you
will do great! Of course at first you won't be able to eat much and
it does get better so don't get discouraged. I think it's harder to
adjust from eating so much to only needing to eat what you truely
need to be full. It just doesn't seem right at first, but as time
moves on you will truely understand portion size so much more and be
amazed at how big portions really are even though a few months ago
you would have thought you would starve just eating that little bit.
Remember to eat slow chew lots and sip sip sip your water! Good Luck
with it all and I sure hope you are doing better soon!

you that this surgery is not easy. This is something that nobody
wants to tell you. I had always wanted the surgery and this October I
had to have it done because they found cancer in my stomach. I spent
a month and a half in the hospital and I was in ICU after surgery.
Now I am better but everyday is a struggle I can only eat one bite of
food and I am full and some stuff doesn't even stay down, so get
ready to toss your cookies. I went to the hospital at 230 lbs and now
I am at 180 so in 2 months 50 lbs are gone! That is the bright side
of my whole thing but it certainly wasn't easy. If you have any
questions feel free to ask since I recently went through the surgery.

doctor who will work cooperatively with the Gastric bypass team. If
they have a scale that is well suited for large people that would
also be a plus. Since my insurance requires 6 mos of charting my
weight before they will consider me .Any suggestions are welcomed.
