Welcome Ellie and Gail! Ellie, your weight loss is wonderful. Keep up the great work.
No weight loss is like the first six months so make the best of it with proper exercise and nutrition. I'm sure you are. Gail. WELCOME!! You have made a wonderful decision joining this online community. This a great way for you to hear the thoughts and concerns of GBP patients at different pre-op and post-op levels. I will be 3 years post-op in Sept. I've lost 110lbs. Staying active with the support groups and communicating with other GBP patients has helped me maintain a healthy weight. Along with nutrition, exercise and behavioral modification of course. Good luck in your decision to have a gastric by-pass. We are all here for YOU!

Thanks to Ellie for being the first one to pop into my inbox from this list. Congrats on your 55 pound loss!I have the seminar on June 13th. I have been on the Portsmouth Naval Hospital list since March, after attending their seminar with hubby. I was originally going to wait, since I had asked hubby to take another position here so I could have the surgery done. He asked me not to wait, so that we would not have to be seperated next year due to work assignments and such. I was touched that this now bothers him (he was a Marine before and absent a lot early in our marriage), so I agreed to not wait for PNH.I was reminded I could swich to Standard and try a local doctor. The Obesity Help Virginia Board was great and recommended Dr. Clark for my area. I switched and made my seminar appointment the same day. heh. I just hope things go smoothly and Tricare approves me. I stand 4' 11.5" and weigh 240 pounds. My knees and ankles hurt daily. I have stress incontinence and its become worse over time. My BMI is 48.6. I am anxious about the approval, but trying to be hopeful! So far I have given up caffeine (Im at almost 3 months free now) and today I ended carbonated drinks. Trying differant Crystal Light and sugar free beverages for variety.Just wanted to say hello. I signed up yesterday for this group.Gail Ferguson
