Yes, it is very normal. I was so nervous myself, right up to the minute I went into the surgery holding area. I had to be given something to calm me. It was the best thing that I ever did for my self. It was well worth all the nerves. I am almost 7 months out, I have lost 76 pounds, down to a size 14 from a 24W! It is the best feeling. Do not worry you will be fine.
