SIBLING RESEARCH PROJECT
Volunteers 11-18 years of age with a brother or sister with spina bifida
and their parent are needed to take part in a study conducted through
Virginia Commonwealth University. The study's purpose is to increase
understanding of siblings' thoughts, attitudes, and experiences.
The study is being led by Melissa Bellin, a social work doctoral student
at Virginia Commonwealth University, under the guidance of Dr. Kia J.
Bentley, social work faculty.
The study involves completion of a mailed survey by adolescent
participants that takes approximately 30 minutes. Each adolescent
participant will receive a $15 gift certificate to Wal-Mart and will be
entered into a raffle for an additional $100 gift certificate to
Wal-Mart.
Parents complete a mailed one-page survey that takes approximately
5 minutes. Parents will be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift
certificate to Wal-Mart.
Interested? Please contact Melissa Bellin for additional information
and study packets.
