Yes, I have heard of both of these procedures. My daughter, now 9, had the
bladder neck done when she was 3. It was done at the same time as a uretur
reimplantation. They intended to do an augmentation at the same time, but
found she didn't need one. For both the surgeries your son is having, he
will need a full bowel clean out. This is typically not very pleasant. The
surgeries will take a few hours and he will come out of surgery with a few
tubes coming out of his abdomen to keep the stoma open and to drain his
bladder until it heals. The ACE stoma will take a week or two to heal until
it can be used, I believe.

Has anyone heard of either of these surgeries? If you have can you
please tell me a little about them. My son, Keith - 8yrs old, is
scheduled to have the following surgeries at UNC-CH on August 10. I
am trying to get as much information about them as possible. Any help
is greatly appreciated.
