at the San Angelo Inn & Conference Center, 441 Rio Concho Drive,

A 2002 study from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) found
that 62% of adults in the U.S. use some form of CAM – Complementary

natural products, deep breathing exercises, meditation, chiropractic
care, yoga, massage and diet-based therapies. It has been estimated
that the U.S. public spent between $36 billion and $47 billion on
CAM therapies in 1997 alone and that this is increasing annually as
many continue to look for alternative healthcare solutions in order
to save money and stay healthy.

Exhibitors, speakers, and psychic readers from all over Texas are
coming to San Angelo to participate in the Wholistic Rodeo. This is
the largest Expo of this type to be held in West Texas. This event
will feature 24 exhibits related to body, mind, and spirit: Massage,
Aura Photography, Naturopathic Medicine, Crystals, Feng Shui,
Artwork, Books, Gifts, Healing Touch, Essential Oils, Dance,

foot mural.

11 professional psychics will be available for a variety of
readings: Angels, Past Lives, Medical Intuition, Clairvoyance,
Numerology, Iridology, Astrology, Palmistry, Tarot and a Pet Psychic

the day: The Joy of Breathing, The Basics of Feng Shui, Maya
Abdominal Massage, The Benefits of Animal Communication, Maya
Cosmogenesis, Be Naturally Prosperous, Contacting your Spiritual
Guide, Strengthening Relationships, The Akashic Records, and

Located in the heart of the Concho Valley, San Angelo is in the
center of a place that has been a crossroads for many people at many
times. We live in a time of rapid change. Everyone seems to be
seeking answers to life's big questions as new ideas and information
are filling the planet. It can be a challenge to find stability and
meaning in the outer world. The intention of the Wholistic Rodeo is
to assist everyone who attends to find their own truth and wisdom.
We can all find love, stability, good health, and inner peace. The
Wholistic Rodeo is organized by Intuitive counselor and Spiritual
development teacher Egan Sanders who works and resides in San
Angelo. The Wholistic Rodeo is sponsored by the Expanding Light
Calendar, a holistic publication in San Angelo, and by Cassy's
Multicultural Gifts and Healing Centre of Abilene, Texas.

Wholistic Rodeo: Health – Mind – Spirit Expo a Sign of The Times

We live in a time of rapid change. It can be a challenge to find
stability, meaning and consistent well-being in our daily lives. As
technology races forward, we are faced with many situations: rising
healthcare costs, increased stress levels, and economic, political
and social uncertainty. How can we effectively deal with the unknown?

The Wholistic Rodeo: Health – Mind – Spirit Expo is an event that
can be seen as a sign of the times. Almost every weekend an event of
this type is being held somewhere in the United States, attended by
people from all walks of life, looking for healthier lifestyles,
more self-understanding, and greater purpose in their lives.

A 2002 study from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) found
that 62% of adults in the U.S. use some form of CAM – Complementary
and Alternative Medicine. This would include such things as prayer,
natural products, deep breathing exercises, meditation, chiropractic
care, yoga, massage and diet-based therapies. It has been estimated
that the U.S. public spent between $36 billion and $47 billion on
CAM therapies in 1997 alone and that this is increasing annually as
many continue to look for alternative healthcare solutions in order
to save money and stay healthy.

Today many adults opt to be more holistic in their lifestyle choices
without even knowing it. A holistic approach to health and fitness
is one that focuses on the combination of lifestyle, physical
health, mental and emotional wellness, and spiritual awareness.
Standard medicine addresses symptoms - primarily seeing illness as a
breakdown in the machinery of the human body, alone. Alternative
medicine, or holistic health, involves the treatment of the whole
person – body, mind and spirit, and how those connections, together,
impact health and well being.

As an example, cardiovascular disease risk factors (heart attack and
stroke) include smoking, diabetes, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet,
obesity, heredity and emotional factors such as depression, anxiety
and hostility. It has been clearly documented that emotional trauma
increases the likelihood of illness and weakens the body. Treatment
with medication is typically the first way of responding to illness,
but perhaps examining how a person thinks or feels might be an
equally important diagnostic tool as well?

Several key topics will be addressed at the Wholistic Rodeo,
reflecting national and international trends in health, wellness,
and personal and spiritual growth:

Diet: It is a fact that two-thirds of Americans are overweight or
obese which is the cause of multiple health problems and contributes
to out of control healthcare spending. What people eat and how they
eat is vitally important. Wal-Mart, the nations largest retailer,
which draws 100 million customers to its stores every week, recently
announced that it plans to double its offerings of organic food
products to it's customers. Studies show that a majority of U.S.
consumers buy at least some organic food on a regular basis because
it is generally thought of as healthier than processed foods. Rusty
and Bret Adams will be discussing the science of good nutrition and
weight control in their talk entitled, "Energize me!"

Relationships: The pace and demands of modern life can stress our
relationships. Maintaining healthy and happy relationships requires
practicing the skills of communication and self-awareness. Kathy
Goodenbour-Mursch will present a talk entitled, Strengthening
Relationships, which will examine, among other things, how to heal
negative childhood experiences that may affect relationships later
in life.

Abundance: The economy seems to be going through a transition with
globalization and the growth of Internet commerce. There seems to be
more ways to earn a living available today than ever before. Jean
McClelland, founder and president of Praxis and Praxis Reports, and
a corporate consultant for Fortune 100 companies, will present, "Be
Naturally Prosperous".

Environment: Our surroundings at home or work have a big impact on
our well being. Color, light, natural elements, and even location
can affect us as much as air quality. Stacy Davenport will explain
the dynamic connection between your space and your life. Learn the
basics of Feng Shui, the study of how the natural forces in our
environment can affect prosperity, health, and happiness.

Massage: Massage has been proven to reduce stress and is very
helpful in the healing process. Every human being has a need for
touch and the therapeutic benefits of a good massage are many. Three
massage therapists will be at the Wholistic Rodeo providing various
forms of massage for attendees. In addition, Nurse Cyndi Hughs will
present information and a demonstration of abdominal massage
techniques that address problems related to pelvic and abdominal
organs.

Emotional Health: Rita B. DeShields will look at how our thoughts
and emotions create our lives, health, relationships, and
temperament. Her talk, "The Joy of Breathing," will show how
conscious, diaphragmatic breathing quiets the mind, relaxes the
body, and promotes better concentration. It can also resolve
stress, revitalize your energy level, improve relationships and
expand your consciousness. Rita has been using this technique for 12
years with individuals, groups, retreats and Intensives.

Guidance: When used with critical thinking and common sense,
spiritual and/or psychic guidance can be very helpful. History is
full of people who have sought information of a psychic nature to
assist them. When Ronald Reagan was President, he reportedly used an
astrologer to plan his itinerary and important events, and the
psychic Edgar Cayce, the sleeping prophet, is said to have been
sought out by many influential people, including U.S. Presidents,
for predictive information. It is now a common practice for law
enforcement to get leads and assistance in investigations
from `psychic' detectives. The truth is that everyone is psychic;
some are just more gifted. We would all like the ability to peer
into the future to gain insights. When used intelligently, and in a
balanced manner, such information can be part of the decision making
process. The Wholistic Rodeo will have psychic and intuitive readers
available to share their abilities to assist people in gaining such
insight. Pet Psychic Myra Logan from Houston will be among this
group. Myra often works in conjunction with veterinary clinics. In
addition to consultations, she conducts seminars on animal
communication, and she is a frequent guest speaker for various
groups. Myra has been retained as the Animal Communicator for the
annual Iron Dogs Training Camp in Kerrville, and she makes frequent
public appearances sponsored by businesses. Myra has been featured
on several Houston TV newscasts, including NBC Channel 2, Fox 26, WB
39, Houston PBS Living Smart and in several publications, such as,
The Pasadena Citizen Newspaper and The Sun. She is one of three
psychics retained by Channel 2 Houston to speak with Radar The
Weather Dog.
