Adult Learner Course
for Massage Therapy Instructor Certification

This 30 hour course fulfills the TexasDepartment of State Health Services
requirement for Massage TherapyInstructors. Participants will become
familiar with learning theoriesand concepts, as well as classroom
management skills and lessonplanning. In addition, assessment tools will be
incorporated to helppotential instructors determine their teaching
strengths andweaknesses. These tools will provide mechanisms which may be
used tomeet the learning needs of a variety of students.

The class includes a workbookcontaining reference material, assessment
tools and sample exercises.Topics addressed include classroom management
skills and exerciseswhich focus on behavior of students in the classroom.

Participants will have an opportunity to work in groups to problem solve
as well as share insights.

Michelle Burns, BSN, RMT, MTI, is aState of Texas approved CE provider
with over 15 years of experience asa massage therapist and massage therapy
instructor for a wide varietyof subjects. She has also taught classes for
the public at severalresort spas and continuing education classes in touch
and aromatherapyfor nurses. Her experience includes supervising massage
therapyinstructors and teaching them the skills they need for the
classroom.She also teaches advanced technique classes in a variety of
specialties.

Michelle Burns is approved by theNational Certification Board for
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork(NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved
Provider.
