Our coalition associate, HealthCare-Now (San Antonio)  is trying to gain as much attendance as possible, at this protest against the practices of theinsurance industry, taking place in San Antonio, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.  If you can't drive down, please contact as many sympathetic friends (from San Antonio & Austin), to support this protest!!  See flyer attachment as well as below.

Health Care Activists: meet for the protest in San Antonio June 19 against the health care insurance industry! (For information, see below.) 

 

The debate needs to be reframed: Instead of asking people the old question, "Are you willing to have a single payer National Health Insurance program, even if it means paying more taxes?" Ask: "Are you willing to have a single payer National Health Insurance program, even if it means not having private insurance companies?"

 

This is the question we need to ask ourselves!

The San Antonio Healthcare-Now Coalition is joining activists from coast
to coast in a day of protest against the unconscionable practices of
for-profit health insurance companies.  June 19 is the day when 38,000
insurance executives and their political benefactors will hold their
annual conference in San Francisco.  It is coincidentally the
celebration of emancipation from slavery.  Protests will be staged in a
dozen cities across the country demanding emancipation from the
profit-driven insurance companies.  We invite everyone concerned to join
us in San Antonio in our effort to send a clear message to the
healthcare insurance industry: we are mad and won't take it any
more!  We will meet outside the Humana Building, 8431 Fredericksburg
Road, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

It is likely that Reggie Cervantes will take part in the San Antonio
protest.  She was a 9/11 rescue worker who went to Cuba with Michael
Moore and was featured in SiCKO.  Ray McMurrey, a single-payer advocate
who recently ran for the U.S. Senate, will also attend.
