Saturday April 12, 2:00 – 3:15 pm, Christina Meyers, PhD will
present "Chemobrain" - Is It Real? (Pathology and Pharmacology)
Cancer patients often experience cognitive impairments from a
combination of factors: the cancer itself, treatment side effects,
other medications and medical complications. These changes can reveal
themselves as memory loss, lack of sustained attention, etc. This
lecture is meant to teach the therapist what to expect from a client
receiving chemotherapy. As a therapist to cancer patients and their
friends and family, this understanding will help you know what to
expect and reassure your clients what is being experienced is
normal. It will also help you understand the effects of medication
on our physiology and psycology.

Dr Meyers is a Professor of Neuropsychology and is on staff at MD
Anderson in the Department of Neuro-Oncology.

Workshop and Initiative, 3/04; Member of the Neuroscience and
Radiation Biology Working Group. Sponsored by NASA and the
Universities Space Research Association, Division of Space Life

the Brain Tumor Progress Review Group, co-chair of " Epidemiology,
Prevention, and Outcomes Research". Sponsored by the National Cancer
Institute and the National Institute of Neurologic Disorders and
Stroke, 2000.

experience will offer the attendees a wealth of knowledge and
understanding of the human physiology.
